Birthday Haul

Last weekend my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Brisbane.  I knew I was going away and I had a couple of extra days leave from work but I just had no idea where it was I was going to end up.  I had known about the trip for about 4 weeks and for most of it I was convinced we were going to Melbourne as I haven't yet been there and really want to go.

The only place better than Melbourne was Brisbane!  My sister and her partner live there and even though my sister and I pretty much email and txt each other daily it just doesn't cut it.  Needless to say I was beside myself with excitement on the plane.  If you follow me on instagram you would have seen some of the pics and know that we went up to the Gold Coast and stayed in an apartment at the Hilton right in Surfers Paradise.  We enjoyed lovely dinners, lots of drinks but even more shopping.

Here's a rundown of what I bought and a very special something I got for my birthday.

Lush Haul
Lush is one of those stores I just can't resist.  I picked up a tub of BIG shampoo, the Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter and two bubble bar's for the bath.  For some reason whenever I enter a Lush store I lose all sense of how much things cost.  I picked up a tub of shampoo for $26.95 - I mean seriously I don't think I've ever paid that much even for Salon shampoo.  I was a bit disappointed about that until I tried it - but I'll leave you hanging on that though as I'll be writing a full review soon.

Mecca Maxima - Soap & Glory
So for the last 3-4 years I've been living under a rock, well actually mainly just in Darwin.  Stores like Mecca, Kit Cosmetics & Mac just aren't up there and anytime I traveled interstate I just didn't get a chance to visit them.  So when I saw a Mecca store I threw all my shopping bags at my boyfriend and me and my sister hurried in.  There were so many things I'd only read about and never had the opportunity to look at but I was so pressed for time and I didn't know where to start.  I spent about 10 minutes looking at everything in the store and settled on just a couple of travel size Soap and Glory products that I've heard raved about so much.  I really can't wait to get back there and spend some time trying out some of the gorgeous makeup.

Daiso Haul

On our last day in Brisbane we made a special trip into the city so I could go to the Daiso store.  I have read many a blog about this wonderful store where everything costs $2.80 and I really really really wanted to get myself the brush cleanser that EVERYONE talks about!  Unfortunately it wasn't my day and they didn't have it in stock however I did pick up a couple of false eyelash sets, a brow liner (which I'm already really impressed with) and a few packs of sheet masks.

Naked Palette + Extras

And I saved the best to last - my amazing lovely beautiful sister got me the Urban Decay Naked Palette for my birthday.  It seems like EVERYBODY but me has this palette already and I can see why.  The pigmentation and quality of these eye-shadows really are amazing.  This palette really makes me want to get back into doing wedding makeup again.  It's just perfect!

My sister also gifted me some awesome candles and I picked up a new Mac eyeliner in Smolder (black) while I was there amongst an array of new clothes and shoes.  It was so nice to have somebody to shop with and to visit all the shops we don't have here in Adelaide.  I had the most amazing time, the weather was perfect and I spent the whole weekend with fantastic people.

    1. Thanks Susannah - I'm a real scaredy cat but I went on most of the rides. The scariest one was the Superman rollercoaster - I can't even describe how fast it goes, it's insane and I had shaky legs for a long time after I got off it but I'm glad I did it :)
