Review: Dr Lewinns Skin Perfect Anti-Aging Primer

Dr LeWinns Skin Perfect Anti-aging Primer

For years I've been a huge fan and advocate of using primers.  Whenever people ask for my advice about foundations I always check first-off that they're using a primer.  Because of this I'm always on the lookout to try new primers and so was happy to see this one included in my June Her Fashion Box.  Dr Lewinns is a brand I've heard a lot about but I had never tried any of their skincare or makeup before this.

Dr Lewinns claim that this primer gives you instantly silky and smooth skin allowing makeup to glide over the skin and prepare the complexion for a long lasting base. Its lightweight formula contains Evermat™ technology to visibly reduce the appearance of pores and absorb excess oils, without over-drying. Skin is left clear, glowing and hydrated.

Personally I'm not a fan of silicone based primers so this hydrating creamy primer was well-received.  I do agree with the claims that it does give you silky smooth skin and I also find that my makeup still looks great at the end of a long day with not a hint of oily shine in sight.  The formula is lightweight however it still feels very hydrating on the skin.  Only a tiny bit of cream is needed as it does spread very easily onto the face.  I always wait about 30 seconds and then start applying my foundation.

Overall this primer is a welcome addition to my makeup routine and one I will definitely be picking up in full size when this runs out.

Do you use primers before foundation?

  1. My makeup always comes off on my nose because my t-zone gets so oily but my foundation is staying on so much better with this primer and it's so light too! I'll be buying this when it runs out too :)

  2. Thanks for the info about the Dr Lewinns primer. It sounds like a product I'd like to try, but I'd like it even more if it had some spf in it. I find that hydrating primers are good for fine lines, but matte products are usually too drying for around the eyes and can emphasise fine lines in this area. Would you be ok to use this around the eyes?

    1. I know this is controversial but I actually hate SPF but that's a story for another day. I put this around my eyes everyday and have no problem with it - it sinks into the skin pretty fast and is really hydrating. I use an eye primer before putting on eye-shadows though - not sure if this would leave a residue on the eyelid if you didn't use an eye primer.

  3. What a great review and I use a primer every day and I love finding new ones. I usually have Smashbox in my makeup case but I'd definitely try this Dr. Lewinns one. Thanks for sharing! Following you now

    1. Thanks for the follow Dale - I've been meaning to try the Ssmashbox one for a while but it can be hard to find here in Australia :)
