Am stealing this idea from the beautiful Lilit over at Makeup and Macaroons

Source: Pinterest.com
 Dear Adelaide...
I don't know why I find it so hard to like you, maybe it's your rude non-indicating drivers that nearly kill me every week, or the way you're a big city but your roads don't reflect that or maybe it's that you're cold and I just simply miss being warm in Darwin.  Whatever the reason may be I'm determined to make you my friend.

Dear Lucy...
I'm sorry that we had you desexed and that you were in pain.  I'm also sorry that we made you wear a cone on your head for a week and I'm sorry for laughing.  Honestly though, any thoughts we had on you 'settling down' have gone out the window.  Please stop doing time trials in the hallway.

Dear Laura...
Thankyou for sending me show bags from the Ekka Show - it totally made my day.  You are officially my favourite sister.

Dear Sammy Sam...
Your emails always brighten my day.  I miss you.

Dear New Zealand...
I will see you in less than 5 weeks.  Can't wait to hang with my besties again.

Dear Winter...
Eff off.  That is all.

Dear Modcloth...
Thankyou for making a really cute dress that actually covers my ass AND thighs  #tallgirlproblems

Bring on the weekend and keep smiling :)

I picked up this innovative product recently in a Priceline sale.  My interest was piqued by the in-shower bit.  If there's one thing that I constantly forget to do it's moisturize my body.  When I get out of the shower I want to get dry and dressed pronto - especially in Winter - not waiting around in the cold for my moisturiser to sink in.  This is why when I saw a product that would moisturise you in the shower I didn't need much more encouragement to buy.

The Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion uses Almond Oil to provide long lasting hydration and the basic concept is you wash your body as per normal and then apply this lotion while still in the shower.  Rinse it off, get out of the shower and pat dry with a towel and bam you're moisturised.  No more standing in the cold waiting for moisturiser to sink in.

When I first starting using this I thought that it wasn't moisturizing enough for me but the more I use it the better my skin gets.  Now that my skin is getting hydration on a daily basis it's really started to improve.  Directly after using this my skin feels silky and soft.  After patting drying with a towel you will notice a slight residue on the skin but it doesn't feel at all sticky and even my lovely man commented on how nice and soft my skin has been lately.

I have to say that even though this is a huge 400ml bottle of product I am using it up fairly quickly, however at $7.99 you won't catch me complaining.

Available at Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and most supermarkets.

The last of my 3 Beauty Box Subscriptions arrived late last week and as this one comes from America and is primarily makeup products, I always look forward to opening it up.

The theme this month is 'The Diva in You' and the box contained 6 full-size beauty products.

Here's what I got:

Lipfactory August 2013

NYX Wonder Pencil in Light
This really is a wonder product as it claims to do three things; conceal flaws & blemishes, Line lips against lipstick bleeding and brighten eyes along the waterline.  I would imagine this product is very similar to the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Nude which I'm absolutely loving in my waterline at the moment so I look forward to trying out this product.

White Towel Makeup Remover
This is a single 100% cotton cloth with makeup remover.  Perfectly packaged for traveling and since it is a cotton cloth I imagine it can be rinsed out and used again as a normal wash cloth.

ColourU Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Skinny Dip
This matte brown lipstick just isn't  my thing.  This shade is not suited to my colouring and I'm not a fan of matte lips.

Red Cherry Lashes & Sweetpea & Fay Liquid Lipstick

 Red Cherry Eyelashes in Black
So excited to see these lashes in the box as I've wanted to try the Red Cherry brand for a long time.  I can't wait to try them on.

Sweetpea & Fay Liquid Lipstick in Imogen
Unfortunately I have already received this exact same product - colour and all - in a previous box.  It's pretty disappointing because not only is it a duplicate it's not the product that is shown on the product card.  Apparently I was supposed to receive a Sweetpea & Fay Lip Joule.

MeMeMe Shimmer Stack in Gold

MeMeMe Shimmer Stack in Gold
I hadn't heard of the MeMeMe brand before receiving another illuminating product in my August Her Fashion Box so was really surprised to see it surface again here.  This is a beautiful gold shimmery highlighting powder that I imagine is going to look stunning on.  Can't wait to experiment with this - I much prefer powder highlighters to liquid as I find them easier to use.

Overall I was pretty happy with this month's box.  There are a couple of things I won't use (the two lip products) but the rest I definitely can't wait to try out.

The Lipfactory Beauty Box is a subscription service that costs $32USD each month which includes shipping to Australia.  Depending on where the USD is at I find it costs me between $33-$35 AUD.  Lipfactory always has full-sized makeup products that are valued much higher than the purchase price and continually blow me away with what's inside.  It's also a great chance to try products we can't get here in Australia.

What did you think of this month's Lipfactory boxes?  Are you a fan of beauty subscription boxes or do you think they're a waste of money?

The lovely Susannah from Sparkle2day.com recently nominated me for a Leibster Award.  The Leibster Award is basically a tag given to bloggers with less than 200 followers with some questions to answer.

I've already posted a Leibster Award once before which you can read here,  but I thought it would be fun to answer Susannah's questions and who knows you might learn something about me you didn't know before :)

What's a blog that inspires you?
This one was a hard one to pick as there are a lot of fantastic blogs that inspire me.  I thought I'd pick a local Australian girl Sarah who blogs over at More Than Adored. Sarah inspires me because she writes from a really genuine and honest place which comes from having a real passion for what she writes about.  She also has a beautiful blog design so what are you waiting for... go check it out :p

If money and time were no object, what would you like to do with your blog?
I'd love to hire a professional blog designer to completely overhaul the look of the blog and with all the time in the world I would swatch, review and write to my heart's content.

What's your favourite TV show or movie?
My favourite movie is The Holiday.  Love every single moment of this movie.  Absolutely beautiful and I try to watch it every Christmas.

What do you like to do when you're not blogging?
I love shopping, travelling and hanging out with friends and if it's summer I love the beach!

What's your job or dream job (other than blogging)?
My job right now is a Personal Assistant which most of the time I love doing.  I'm also a trained makeup artist but haven't practiced my trade professionally for a few years now.  My dream job would probably be to throw myself back into Makeup Artistry.  Get my kit back up and running and solely do weddings and special occasion makeup

What's your favourite, holy grail beauty product?
This is so hard.  I love too many products how can I just pick one?  Mascara is the one thing I never leave the house without and my favourite mascara is Maybelline Full n Soft Mascara - I've been using it for years and am yet to find anything that betters it.

On your own blog, what's your favourite blog post?
My favourite blog post is the one where I posted my last giveaway for my birthday.  I asked people to comment and tell me about their favourite birthday and I found everybody's responses really fascinating.  The giveaway has closed but the comments are worth a read :)

What's your favourite recipe (or food if you're not into cooking)?
My favourite recipe is for my Chocolate Chip Cookies.  They're so easy to make, taste so delicious and I'm automatically everybody's best friend when I make them.

Do you have any pets?
I have a kitten called Lucy who drives me up the wall.  We've had her for about 6 months now and while I love her dearly, her 4am banging (yes banging) on the door, sprinting from one end of the house to the other and obsession with our floor rug leaves me somewhat exasperated.  She also has a strange obsession with sitting as close to my face as she can.  Anyone know a cat whisperer?

Lucy and I - so comfy... not

What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Write about something that you're passionate about and never write for perks!  Also make spell check your best friend.

Thanks Susannah for tagging me in this, it's been fun answering the questions.  I won't tag anyone specifically but if you'd like to answer these questions yourself on your blog please do and link back to it in the comments below.

Twice a year David Jones release a Beauty Book filled with new products, gifts with purchases and new product highlights.  Alongside their Beauty Book they release a Sampler Tote which you can purchase for $19.95 when you buy anything from the Beauty Department.  The Sampler Tote always has a great array of products to try and I was especially excited to see something from SKII as this is a brand I've been wanting to try out for a long time.

After spending some time perusing the pages of the Beauty Book I found a fantastic deal from The Balm where any purchase over $27.95 would get you a Shady Lady Eyeshadow Palette valued at $49.95.  It doesn't take a mathematician to work out that's a fantastic deal.  I have a single Shady Lady eyeshadow which I use all the time so I already knew that these eye-shadows were pigmented and of a high quality.  Now get me to a David Jones Store. Stat.

I headed to The Balm stand with the intention of buying a highlighter but unfortunately they were out of stock of the one I wanted.  I settled for this Cabana Boy Blush and I'm so glad I did.  This blush is highly pigmented - you really only need a small amount but boy is it gorgeous!

The Balm - Cabana Boy

Cabana Boy Blush with my free gift - Shady Lady Vol.3

The Balm Shady Lady Palette Vol.3

And of course I couldn't leave the store without picking up the latest version of the David Jones Sampler Tote for $19.95

The David Jones Tote Bag

David Jones Sampler Tote Bag - August 2013

Two different bags to choose from

As you can see on the card there were two different bags to choose from.  It was a hard choice as I would've liked the Circa Candle as well as the Dermalogica Pre-cleanse but in the end the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter won out and I picked that one.

Do I need any more samples?  Of course not - I have drawers overflowing with them as it is but I know I'll get good use out of most of the products in here and I'm really looking forward to trying out the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence.

I'm really happy with my purchases from The Balm, in fact I'm already making good use out of them so overall I think it was a fantastic deal.

You can check out the full David Jones Beauty Book here but be quick as it's only on sale/valid until the 1st September.

Did you pick anything up from the David Jones Beauty Book?

I've been meaning to review this haircare trio for the longest time but my qualifications in procrastination have stopped that happening until now!

I received these trial sized goodies in a Her Fashion Box earlier this year and as a huge fan of the Redken brand was looking forward to trying them out.  Around the same time I also received a bottle of the Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense which is a silicon-free oil in the same range as the products I'm reviewing today. If you want to read more about the Oil you can read my full review here.

My hair is fine and damaged.  This means I need hydration but not so much that it weighs my hair down.  I found great success with the Oil in this range so was looking forward to trying the shampoo, conditioner and treatment.

The Redken Diamond Oil range uses Coriander Oil to smooth, Camelina Oil to soften and Apricot oil to condition.  The unique blend of oil creates a silicone free product suitable for all hair types.

Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo
This is a gentle cleansing shampoo that left my hair feeling immediately soft and hydrated.  I definitely needed to double shampoo with this one to get a really good lather up and ensure it cleansed my whole scalp.  I get oily roots very easily so it's important I don't miss any spots.

 Redken Diamond Oil Conditioner
Next I applied the conditioner which is not only enriched with the Diamond Oil complex but also an 'Interlock Protein Network' which helps build strength to the hair from the inside out.  This is quite a thick conditioner and I only needed to use a small amount.  I combed it through my hair using my fingers and it very easily dealt with any tangles.  After washing this out I could feel how incredibly soft my hair was straight away.

Redken Diamond Oil Deep Facets
Deep Facets is an intensive treatment product for dull/damaged hair.  Just like the conditioner this contains the Diamond Oil complex as well as the 'Interlock Protein Network' but should only be used once or twice a week.  It's applied after shampooing and is to be left on for 5-15 minutes.  This product really is the Diamond Oil Conditioner on steroids, it amplifies both the softness and hydration and you won't be able to stop running your hands through your hair.

Overall....
I can't deny these products are absolutely wonderful at providing hydration and softness to the hair, however for my fine hair I found them to be a little on the heavy side.  Even when I kept the conditioner and treatment away from my roots I found my hair was weighed down.  It was also hard to find the right amount of conditioner to use, if I used a tiny bit too much it would leave a slight residue to my hair that I just didn't like.

If you have thick dry/damaged hair I think this range would be fantastic for you and I really think you'll notice a big difference.  If, however your hair is on the finer side like me and you're prone to a bit of oiliness I wouldn't recommend it.

Have you tried this range before?  What did you think?

I think it would be fair to say that Her Fashion box is my 'most looked forward to' beauty box that I subscribe to.  Maybe it's because it costs quite a bit more than the others so I expect more or maybe it's because mostly every box they've sent out has impressed me.  Either way this month's box is no different, it's jam packed full of full size beauty products and fashion items.

Here's what was inside:

Her Fashion Box August 2013
Ardell Brow Defining Kit RRP$24.95
This kit contains 3 things: A palette with three colours to custom blend for your eyebrow shade plus a highlighter to enhance the brow. A duo brow brush with a mascara type spoolie on one end and an angled applicator brush on the other and the third thing is a Brow Grooming Pencil which is a clear waxy pencil you can use to set your brows and also has an inbuilt pencil sharpener.  This is definitely the beauty product I was most excited to see, I'm obsessed with trying to fake great eyebrows - they frame the face afterall!  Can't wait to try this out.

Ardell Brow Perfection Stencils RRP$9.99
4 different eyebrow stencils you can use to help shape your eyebrows.   Perfect when using the kit above.

Ardell Brow Defining Kit & Perfection Stencils

Press & Go Press-On Manicure RRP$14.95
I'm not a fan of receiving nail products in these beauty boxes and this is no different.  They are in a nice natural pink colour and nice and short but I just know I won't wear them.  Along with all the other nail products I've received over the last 12 months from these boxes I'll be giving them all to my partners neice.

Me Me Me Beat the Blues Illuminator in Sunbeam RRP$18.95
Right up until I started writing this post I thought this was a nail polish and so was very disinterested.  It's actually a liquid highlighter and it's absolutely beautiful.  It's an iridescent illuminator that can be used on it's own or added to liquid foundation.

Loreal Mythic Oil 45ml (trial size value $13.50)
Not another hair oil, I am so hair oiled out!  I have fine hair and an oily scalp so using hair oils isn't ideal for me.  I will try this one out and see how I go but mostly I find I can only use these types of products as a pre-wash treatment- sometimes leaving them in overnight.

Eyelash Curler - Bonus Product
Please don't hate me but my lashes curl up naturally so I've never needed to use an eyelash curler.  It does seem like a nice curler, doesn't feel junky like some I've seen around and I'm sure it won't be hard to find a new home for it.

Press n Go Nails, Illuminating Highlighter, Loreal Mythic Oil, Eyelash Curler

Her Fashion Box - Pretty in Python Scarf RRP $24.95
I loved the scarf we got the month before last and have got a lot of wear out of it so was excited to see another one in a different print.  It's a print that I would never have picked out for myself but I'm looking forward to finding an outfit to style it with.

Her Fashion Box - Infinite Bliss Belt RRP$24.95
Unfortunately I don't/can't wear belts.  They just look all wrong on me.  This one is also brown and gold which would have to be my two worse colours!  This item will be re-gifted for sure.

Scarf & Belt

Because I filled out the survey on last month's box I received another little Honey & Beau pouch in a different print to what I received in last month's box.  I love the black and white stripes and think these little pouches are gorgeous so I was very happy to receive another one.

Honey & Beau Pouch - Gift for completing survey
As always Her Fashion Box is accompanied by an A5 glossy magazine detailing everything received in the box and ideas on how to style your new accessories.  I do think this is a really nice touch and enjoy sitting down to read it each month.  Because there are 3 different types of boxes you can pick from when you subscribe, it's nice to be able to see the differences in the boxes in this magazine.

Her Fashion Box Magazine

Her Fashion Box Magazine

Overall I'm once again really happy with what I received this month, especially when I realised I had an illuminator and not another nailpolish!  I love the variety that Her Fashion Box provides; there is always full sized beauty products and the accessories have really stepped up a notch in recent months.

Her Fashion Box are already promoting their September box to be one of their best yet so I'm already looking forward to see what that holds.

This month's Bellabox arrived smack bang in the middle of the month and I must've been one of the first to receive it for once as this is the first time I haven't had to avoid any spoilers!

The theme for this month is Get Active and being the last month of winter it seems a fitting time to come out of hibernation and start getting active again.  Even though it doesn't feel like it here on this cold rainy weekend in Adelaide, Summer IS just around the corner.

Get Active - Bellabox August 2013

August Bellabox - Info Card

Bellabox - August 2013
As you can see above the August box contains 7 items, here's what they are in some more detail:

Loreal Primer, Ultraceuticals CC Cream, ASAP Extreme Hydration, Pevonia Cleanser

Loreal Base Magique Primer
I'm not a huge fan of silicone primers but this is a handy little travel size primer to have.  Will definitely give it a try.

Ultraceuticals CC Cream Mineral Tint in Medium
This will be the first CC Cream I've tried but I'm pretty sure that Medium will be way too dark for my pasty white skin.  I'll try it out but may keep the rest of it for Summer when I develop a nice golden tan (this has and never will, actually happen)

ASAP Ultimate Hydration
Another brand I've heard about but not tried, this sample is 15ml and had me from the word hydration.  I have normal to dry skin that hasn't really enjoyed winter (who does) so I'll take extra hydration whenever I can get it.  It's also a great trial size with 15ml's of product, which should give me a good chance to try it out over a couple of weeks.

Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
I have heard about this brand before but never tried anything - and at $67 for a full size (150ml) of this cleanser it would want to be pretty amazing.  Pevonia is an organic skincare line apparently used in prestigious spas worldwide.  I look forward to trying this out.

Talavou Naturals Glo
This is a loose bronzing powder.  I think this is a full size container but they've only put a small amount of powder in it.  Claims to be an all natural product that only has 3 ingredients.  In my opinion a loose bronzing powder is just asking for trouble.  Great for applying with a big brush on your body but so much room for error if you're going near your face.  Just saying.

John Frieda Condtioner, TOM Tampons

John Frieda Conditioner
A couple of weeks ago I coloured my hair using the John Frieda Precision Foam Colour so I already have one of these conditioners sitting in my shower.  It's a pretty decent conditioner so I'm happy to receive another one.  While we're on the subject I will say that the John Frieda Foam Hair Colour is by far the easiest, mess free, best colour home hair dye I have ever done.  It's almost foolproof!

TOM Organic Tampons - Bonus Product
Made using the purest organic cotton on earth that is free from pesticides and genetically modified material these tampons are apparently a lot safer and better for your body.  Reading this just made me freak the hell out about what's in all the other tampons I've ever used.  What the heck.

Over all I wouldn't say there was anything that really grabbed my attention from this month's box.  It's still gives me more value than the $15 I spent buying it and there are a couple of products I am looking forward to trying (Pevonia & ASAP) but nothing in it really wowed me.

Bellabox costs $15 a month including shipping.  If you're interested in signing up or finding out more information head over to their website www.bellabox.com.au

Today I want to tell you about how you can transform your loose eyeshadows into eyeliners.

This is something I was taught when I trained to be a makeup artist and have used many times over the years.

You'll need the following items
1.  Loose Eyeshadow
2.  Cake Eyeliner Sealer (CEL)
3. A thin liquid liner brush

Just a note on the Cake Eyeliner Sealer - the bottle featured here (Kryolan) is something I purchased from a makeup artist supply store a few years ago as you can probably tell by the wear on the bottle.  It's not a huge bottle but as you only need a tiny drop of it it will last you forever.  Napoleon Perdis make a Cake Eyeliner Sealer too and is probably a lot more accessible than this Kryolan one.

Okay now that you've got your eyeliner sealer, brush and loose eye shadow you'll need something to mix them on.  I sometimes use a piece of paper but more often I just use the back of a palette and wipe it off with a face wipe afterwards.

Drop a tiny drop of eyeliner sealer onto the paper and then scoop some of your loose eyeshadow onto it and slowly mix it together using your brush.  Only use a small amount of powder as it's easy to add powder to it if you need more but as soon as you add more liquid you're going to end up with lots more than you actually need.

Once you've created the consistency you are happy with - I like it quite thick so it's easier to work with - all you need to do is start using it.  The look you get will depend on the size of your brush you use but just as when you use any liquid eyeliner I recommend you start off with a thin line and build it up slowly.

If you have an array of coloured loose eyeshadows like me I encourage you to try this out.  I think you'll be amazed just how you can brighten your eyes instantly with a pop of colour.

Coloured eyeliner is a fantastic way to start using colour.  Just keep your eyeshadow on your lid really natural and then line your lashes with your new coloured liquid eyeliner.  Finish with lashings of mascara!

Alternatively use a natural loose eyeshadow as you can see in the swatches below.  A shimmery neutral brown liquid liner would be a great finishing touch to a neutral eye

Have you ever made your own liquid eyeliner like this?

In last month's Her Fashion Box I received this trio of haircare from Pureology.  The trio consists of three trial size products; Shampoo, Conditioner and Precious Oil Versatile Caring Oil.    This is a salon brand I hadn't heard of before and due to the use of oil I was hesitant to try it out.  Because I have very fine hair, oils can often weigh down my hair and make it look dirty even when it's only just been washed.

Precious Oil Shamp'Oil (Shampoo)
A sulfate and silicone free shampoo I found this was very hard to lather up and I needed to shampoo my hair three times before I felt like it was really clean.  In saying that it smells amazing and didn't leave my hair feeling stripped like some shampoos can.

Precious Oil Condition (Conditioner)
This is a very lightweight conditioner and I felt like it wasn't going to be hydrating enough for my dry ends.  I massaged the conditioner into the ends of my hair - left it for a couple of minutes before rinsing out. My hair didn't feel too different after rinsing this out.

Precious Oil Versatile Caring Oil
After towel drying my hair I distributed a few drops of this oil through the ends of my hair before blow-drying and straightening.  This is where the magic happens.  This oil is 100% biodegradable, silicone and paraben free and contains sunflower seed, coconut, olive & jojoba oils and can also be used all over the body.

Whilst at first I didn't think that the Shampoo and Conditioner were doing anything much, I can't deny that all three of the products together have given me the softest and shiniest hair I have had in an extremely long time.  The products smell amazing which of course transfer to my hair and I keep trying to catch a whiff of it through the day.  My hair is in no way weighed down and I have to keep myself from running my hands through it to feel how soft and smooth it is.

I'm definitely a fan of these products but the oil would be my pick of the 3 and the product I will re-purchase especially as it is a dual purpose product.

Have you heard of this brand before?  What's your favourite haircare range?

The last few month's I've been making a conscious effort to use up the huge amount of samples and trial sized products that I continually seem to accumulate.

Here are the samples I used up in July with a few of my thoughts on each.

Aveda invati Exfoliating Shampoo & Thickening Conditioner
I loved these little one time samples.  They left my hair feeling so incredibly soft but also so light and clean.  I definitely got some volume into my fine hair with these as well.  Will definitely be looking at purchasing some of these in full size.

Alpha H Liquid Gold
I've already mentioned this in my July Favourites post but I acquired this recently with an Adore Beauty purchase and I fell in love.  One of the first products I've used that's given me overnight results from the very first use.  I have since purchased this in full-size and will be reviewing in the coming weeks.

Rachel K CC Cream in Neutral
Love this BB/CC Cream - gives a great coverage and feels great on the skin.  Will look at purchasing this once I've got through some of my other base products.

Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Lotion
For my birthday in July I was whisked away by my lovely man to Queensland and we stayed a couple of nights in a Hilton Apartment on Surfers Paradise.  The complimentary toiletries were all Peter Thomas-Roth which I had never heard of at the time.  This lotion was beautiful - far superior to any complimentary toiletries every received in a hotel.  Very surprising!

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
Beauty Flash Balm is one of those 'cult' products that I've just never understood.  Whilst I love most Clarins products this one just baffles me.  So many people rave about it and love but I just don't get it.  This can be used multiple ways - as a primer, everyday moisturiser, midday pick me up or applied thickly as a face mask.  I prefer to use this as a hydrating face mask but won't be purchasing a full-size any time soon.  I will say that it smells delicious though :)

I.C.O.N India Shampoo & Conditioner
I reviewed these products and ran a giveaway to win a full size pack of these a couple of months ago.  The products are beautiful and you can read my full review of these products here.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Mamba
I bought a pack of these 50ml sized Dry Shampoo recently as they're a perfect size for travelling.  I took this away with me to Queensland and it was perfect.  This one is a scent I hadn't tried before and I found it a lot stronger than my usual 'Blush' but it was still nice.

Do you enjoy using samples or find them too small and annoying?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway while you're here - there's only a couple days left to enter and if you've already entered you can still tweet about it daily to gain extra entries.

Best of Luck

I'm so excited to bring you something different for my empties post this month.  For the first time ever I've finished FOUR makeup products.  It's an awesome feeling that is made even better by being able to justify new purchases ha!

Here's what I used up this month...

Lux Body Wash - Secret Bliss
This is my second bottle of this and it is devine.  I stocked up with about 4 of these bottles when they were on sale recently so you'll see this product again.  It's lovely and hydrating and smells amazing!

Modelco Fibre Lashxtend Mascara
I received this mascara either in a magazine giveaway or a beauty box I can't quite remember.  All I know is that it does nothing for my eyelashes whatsoever and life's too short to have shitty lashes.  I've only used it once but it's going in the bin.

A'kin Replenishing Body Moist
From an Australian brand I'm very fond of, this moisturiser is unscented making it perfect to put on in the morning and not battle with your favourite perfume.  It's beautifully hydrating on my winter-dry limbs.

Radiessence in Light Tan
I've had this bronzer for waaay too long.  It's not too shimmery so I liked to use it as a contouring product.  Not re-purchasing as I have Benefit Hoola and it is a lot better than this product.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush
Sick of seeing these every month yet?  I use dry shampoo religiously and this is my favourite flavour.  Repurchased in bulk!

Napoleon Perdis Camera Finish Powder Foundation in Look 3
This is my holy grail powder.  Look 3 has a slight green/olive tinge to it which helps tone down the redness I can get on my cheeks.  This powder sets my foundation, gives a fairly good coverage and has this amazing knack of making my skin look almost perfect.  Repurchased already - can't go a day without this!

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in Light
This BB Cream is by no means perfect but I really like it.  It gives my skin a light to medium coverage and provides a really healthy glow.  It also feels very hydrating on my normal to dry skin.  This product combined with my Napoleon Perdis powder is my current go-to base.

Clarins Cleansing Milk Alpine Herbs for Normal to Dry Skin
I'm a huge fan of Clarins products but to be honest while this cleanser is good it isn't great.  There are a lot of other cheaper cleansers that I prefer.  It does smell good and leave my skin feeling very soft afterwards but I wouldn't repurchase unless it came with a gift with purchase or was on sale.

So there are the 8 products I managed to use up in July.  I love being able to finish up products mainly because it means I either get to go shopping or finally open some new products I've had stashed away.

Hope you've all had an amazing month - here's to an even better one.  Don't forget to enter my giveaway (link below) to win a prize pack of a few of my favourite things.  Theres less than a week left to get your entries in.

Priceline 40% off Skincare Haul

Last week Priceline held a 2 day only sale with 40% off all skincare.  I had no intention of buying anything until I read Amy's blog post over at Bottled Beauty about the Olay Advanced Cleansing System.  As soon as I heard that it was included in the sale I knew I'd be placing an order.  Because I don't work anywhere near a Priceline I placed my order online on Tuesday morning and it arrived on Friday afternoon.  I purchased the following:

Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System  - RRP $32.49
As I mentioned Amy from Bottled Beauty raved about this cleansing device and compared it favourably with the Clarisonic which I have refused to spend $150 on so far.  Am excited to try this out and will let you know what I think.

Garnier BB Cream in Light - RRP $13.99
I know a lot of people don't like this BB Cream but I love it.  It feels soft and hydrating on my dry skin and with a bit of my favourite powder on top it lasts me all day with a medium coverage.

Sanctuary Spa Lipid Recovery Facial Oil - RRP $34.99
Another facial oil which hosts a mix of different oils designed to hydrate and repair mature skin.  I don't have mature skin by any means but my skin is dry so I tend to lean towards products like these that promise intense hydration.

St Ives - Renew & Firm Apricot Scrub - RRP $9.99
This has been my favourite facial exfoliater for awhile and it seems to have been given a facelift and is now called Ageless Skin.  The thing I love about this scrub is that it isn't as harsh as the original Apricot Scrub and it uses AHA's to help give a gentler exfoliation

Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion - RRP $7.99
I love the concept of putting body lotion on in the shower and I can't wait to try this out.

So all in all it was not a big haul by anyone's standards but everything I got was something useful.

Did you pick up anything in the sale?  Let me know if you're interested in me reviewing a particular product.

July came and went in a whirlwind of fun and busy-ness.  Being a new financial year, work was unusually busy for me and every weekend in July I had something major on.  It's so nice to just sit down and reflect a little on the month been.  Without a doubt the best part of July was a surprise visit to my sister in Queensland for my Birthday.  I was spoilt rotten by my lovely man as well as family and friends!

Here's what what made my top ten in July:

1.  Lush Big Shampoo - All my life when buying hair products I've always used cheaper shampoos and spent more money on nourishing masks and fantastic conditioners so forking out nearly $28 for this tub of Shampoo was a big deal for me.  Needless to say all the reviews I had read on this little beauty were absolutely true.  This shampoo lathers up wonderfully and strangely enough has chunks of sea salt in it.  All that aside it doesn't even matter what conditioner I use after this, my hair is left voluminous, squeaky clean (in a good way) and so so soft.  My use of dry shampoo has dropped dramatically as I can go two full days without having to wash my hair with this (big deal for me and my oily scalp).  Love love love this product!

2. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Blush in Blonde - I purchased this lovely soft shimmery pink blush from a blog sale and love it.  It applies beautifully and leaves a lovely pink glow to the cheeks.

3.  Dr LeWinns Skin Perfect Anti-Aging Primer - Got this in a Her Fashion Box and it's my new favourite primer.  Will definitely be buying the full size of this. You can read my full review of this product here.

4. Sanctuary Spa Ultimate Facial Cleansing Oil - This is a fantastic pre-cleanse product.  Dissolves all makeup and is gentle enough to use on eyes also.  Full review will be coming soon.

5.  Alpha H Liquid Gold - One of the first face treatments I've used that gave me a significant difference when I woke up the next morning.  This uses glycolic acid to exfoliate and revitalise the skin.  My skin is noticeable clearer and brighter after using this.  I'll be reviewing this in the coming weeks also.

6.  Besame Brightening Powder:  I use this finely milled violet hued powder to set my foundationi/concealer around my eyes before applying eye makeup.  Works beautifully to brighten any dark circles under the eye - very much needed this month!

7.  Daiso Brow Pencil in Brown - Unfortunately the packaging for this is in an asian language I would never be able to interpret.  If you haven't heard of Daiso it's basically a small Asian department store where everything is $2.80.  I picked up this brow liner without much hope but it really is fantastic.  It has a fine tip which applies really softly on the brow, blends in easily and lasts all day without any movement.  I'm using it up quite quickly but at $2.80 who's going to complain.  My only problem is I'll have to head inter-state to pick up another one.

8.  Mac Eye Kohl in Smolder - I've been using this eyeliner for years - it's my go-to black eyeliner which is lovely and soft but still very pigmented.  These eyeliners cost around $32 but I use this every single day without fail and my last one lasted me over a year and a half.

9.  Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude - I had been looking for this eyeliner for a really long time but the stands were always empty.  I snapped it up when I found it in July and it is as amazing as everyone says.  I have been using this a lot in my bottom waterline and it doesn't budge.

10.  And I saved the best till last... My sister gifted me the amazing Urban Decay Naked Palette for my birthday and I've been wearing it every day since.  Each shadow is so soft and buttery and applies so easily.  A dream palette that I love wearing.
