Mary Kay Endless Performance Creme to Powder Foundation

I've only tried creme to powder foundations a handful of times and I've never been a fan.  Typically they've left me with a cakey powdery matte finish that feels heavy on the skin.  Needless to say I wasn't really looking forward to trialling this product.

Mary Kay makes some pretty bold claims with this foundation stating a "true & fresh" appearance for 12 hours, heat & humidity resistance, won't rub off or streak and glides on like a light weight cream.

I find it hard to pick shades online so I had two sent to me to try.  Even though Ivory 3 looked too pink for me it's actually pretty neutral and matched me perfectly.  As you can see pictured below Beige 3 is definitely more yellow based and will probably suit me fine when I'm (fake) tanned.

For the sake of giving you an honest review I trialled this foundation over a number of days, both with and without a primer, with the sponge provided and with a beauty blender sponge, with setting powder and without and this is what I found:

Using the sponge provided and swiping it on gave me that heavy cakey look; however when I used a wet beauty blender and just dabbed it onto the skin I got the best finish.  Not too heavy or powdery.

The foundation doesn't need to be set with a powder over top, if anything it's better without and using one didn't make any difference to the longevity.  A finishing spray over top helped make it look a little more dewy and helped hydrate my skin.  This foundation is intended for oily skin and mine is dry so it makes sense that the setting spray would help.  Also because I don't have oily skin I can't really comment on it's ability to keep skin matte all day however on a couple of the days I used this it was extremely humid and my makeup would normally start to slide off but this definitely stayed put.

Overall I'm really impressed with this foundation - it does stay put all day and keeps its matte finish.  Coverage is medium but can be built up but be careful as it's pretty easy to be too heavy handed with this product.  My only complaint is that it can catch a bit on skin that is a little drier but I do think this would be pretty awesome for the oilier skin ladies.

Definitely worth checking out - especially at $30

*As mentioned in this post I was sent this product for the purpose of providing a review however I haven't been paid to tell you about it and everything I've mentioned here are my own opinions.  You can read my disclaimer policy for more details but I'm basically a fan of honesty being the best policy
