Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 Days 22-24
Well here we are finally at the end of the Christmas season and I thought I better wrap up the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar.  If you want to see what was in Days 1-7 click here and if you want to see what was in Days 8-14 and 15-21 click here.

Days 22-24 of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 were...

Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 Days 22-24

Ole Henriksen is another brand I haven't tried before but I'm not a huge fan of face wipes.  I'll definitely try them out and see what they're like.  The Molton Brown body wash is a product I have tried before and am happy to receive again.  I like keeping body washes like this for when I travel as they are a good size but nice and lightweight.  I was really happy to see the inclusion of an eyeshadow brush behind Day 24 and I can't wait to try it out.  The brush looks soft and dense so will be interesting to see how it goes as we can purchase this brand here in Australia at Priceline.

And of course I won't keep rambling forever, I'll get on with it and let you know what was the last and final product of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar for 2016.....

Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 Illamasqua Palette Day 25

Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 Illamasqua Palette Day 25

The Illamasqua Eye Shadow Palette is exclusive to the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar so can't be purchased anywhere which is pretty exciting.  I do love it and think it's the perfect ending to a fantastic box of beauty products however it is a little too warm toned for me.  I think I'll keep this and add it to a giveaway I'll be doing in the not too distant future.

I'd love to know what you thought of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016.  Will you think about purchasing next year?  I have been really impressed and I definitely think that the value is well over the $120 (AUD) I paid for it.

Hope you had a fantastic Christmas.

Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016
Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016

This is the second installment of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016.  To see what was in the first seven days of this advent calendar click here.

Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 - Days 8-14
Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 - Days 8-14

Days 8-14 of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar were mainly a mix of skincare and haircare with the Ardell Lashes being the only 'makeup' product.  All of these products were brand new to me which is exciting and by far the most appealing thing was the Foreo Luna Play which retails at Sephora Australia for $59.  The Foreo Luna Play is a battery operated silicon cleansing brush that sends pulsations to the skin to give a more effective clean.  It also came with a trial size cleanser so that's why there is 8 products here and not 7.  I'm also pretty excited to try out the Origins moisturiser and the REN night cream.

Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 - Days 15-21
Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2016 - Days 15-21

Days 15 to 21 of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar has a few brands I haven't heard of before like balance me, Codage and bellapierre.  I absolutely love the Nuxe oil but haven't tried this gold shimmery one so I'm saving this for either Christmas Day or New Years Even when I'll be sporting a spray tan.  The Dermalogica exfoliator is an old favourite that I havn't purchased for a long time so I'll get good use out of that and the Redken Conditioning Treatment sounds like it'll be amazing.

Over all I think there are some fantastic products in here and again a good mix of makeup, skincare and haircare.  I love that all the brands are on the higher end and are all decent sizes making it a really valuable and worth-while investment.  So far there is not one product that I won't use.

As mentioned in my previous blog post the cost of this was around $120 once converted to Australian dollars (from Pounds) with a value of over $500 (AUD).  If you want to keep up to date on the advent calendar follow me on instagram (@imminentbeauty) where I post each product every day.  I'll also be putting up a blog post next week with the remaining few products including the big number 25!

I hope you have an awesome Christmas and get to spend it with great people.

Title of Top Ten Beauty Products of 2016 Blog Post

As someone who is utterly obsessed with makeup and all beauty products in general you would think this would be an easy post for me to write.  But the truth is that I love so many products and it's hard to narrow down my Top Ten for a whole year and I had to truly think about the products that I've been using over and over again and that I truly love.  Obviously there are a lot more products that I love that aren't going to feature in this Top Ten post but these are the ones that made the final cut.

I will also add that these products are not necessarily products that have been released in 2016 nor are they necessarily products that were new to me in 2016 although most of them are.  These are the actual Top Ten Beauty Products I just couldn't put down this year!

Let's go!

Top Ten Beauty Products of 2016

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette
I'm going to start with the most obvious one here because people went crazy for this when it came out this year.  The beautiful gold and white packaging houses three blushers and 2 amazing highlighters.  You can read my full review of it here but just know it was worth every cent of the $89 it cost.

Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm
When I found this little hack all over youtube about using this mens after shave balm as a primer I thought there was no way it would be any good.  Wrong!  It's amazing.  By far the best primer I've ever used.  It leaves my skin super hydrated, smooth and definitely helps my makeup stay put.  I may smell slightly like a good looking man but hey those are the sacrifices we have to make sometimes ha!  Full review here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
Definitely not a 2016 release but this is the only eyebrow product I use religiously.  It does an amazing job of defining my brows while keeping them looking natural and a little bit goes a long way meaning this is going to last me a really long time.  Full review here.

Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore Cover BB Cream
Another blogger recommended this to me and I picked it up on ebay for something crazy like $10.  It gives really good coverage whilst looking natural and has a matte finish.  It doesn't last as long as a normal foundation so will require touch-ups if you want to wear it all day long but on days where you're strapped for time while getting ready this is amazing!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
The absolute best eye shadow primer I've ever tried.  Applying this before eye shadow makes a world of difference in your eye shadow showing true colour as well as lasting all day without creasing.

Top Ten Beauty Products of 2016

NYX Liquid Suede
The matte liquid lipstick craze surged on in 2016 but I found most of them to be incredibly drying on my lips.  The NYX Liquid Suede is incredibly comfortable to wear while giving a matte finish.  There's heaps of colours to choose from and I find it's still best to apply a lip liner underneath to give a more even and longer wearing finish.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
I've always been a massive fan of the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer but I picked this one up this year to try something different and fell head over heels in love.  This creamy concealer works amazingly under the eyes to brighten and conceal as well as covering any blemishes that you may have.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette
I have to admit the love hearts in this palette make it look quite child-like but I absolutely love just about every shade in this palette.  It's felt like most of the palette releases this year have been warm toned which I can't wear so I was excited to find a cool toned eyeshadow palette and purchased it when Mecca finally opened in my town.  I'm still yet to use the bright pink colour but the rest are so pigmented and dreamy.  Love!

Poni Cosmetics The White Knight Mascara
This mascara changed my life this year.  I have long curly eye lashes which make me super prone to having mascara smudge marks under my eyebrows on a constant basis.  The White Knight Mascara however is a tubular mascara (read my full review here) and is absolutely NO SMUDGE.  It also comes off super easily with just warm water and a face towel.  Everyone needs this mascara in their lives.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
I have been on a quest this year to find my perfect foundation and about halfway through the year I finally found it.  This foundation gives me full coverage with a matte finish, lasts all day and doesn't look cakey.  You can read more about my foundation journey this year by clicking here.

I would love to know what your favourite product or products have been this year.  Feel free to comment below and it doesn't have to be a beauty product but you get double points if it is.  Thankyou to all who read my little blog for your support this year, I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and get to spend some quality time with family and friends and maybe get a little spoilt too.

Much Love, Kayte xx

beauty advent calendar

beauty advent calendar

I pre-ordered the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar sometime back in September and when it arrived in November it took all my self-control to not open any of it so I hid it in the back of my cupboard to try forget about it.  Now that December is well and truly upon us I'm so glad I waited to open it as it's such a cool surprise opening a window every day and the products truly have been awesome.

7 beauty products including Pixi Glow Tonic, Moroccanoil, Sleep Plus Spray, Rituals Body Balm and more

As you can see in the picture above the first seven days of the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar have been a good mix of skincare, bodycare, makeup and haircare.  The Moroccanoil and Sleep Plus spray were not new to me but the rest of the products were.  The Rituals body balm smells absolutely devine and I've been loving applying this before bed at night.  The two products I was most excited about were the Pixi Glow Tonic as I heard it's a great alternative to Alpha H Liquid Gold and also the Nudestix lippie as I've been wanting to try the brand for a long time.

So far the Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar has been amazing and I can't wait to see what's behind the remaining doors but especially Number 25, surely they'll save the best for last.  The cost of this was around $120 once converted to Australian dollars (from Pounds) with a value of over $500 (AUD).

If you want to keep up to date on the advent calendar follow me on instagram (@imminentbeauty) where I'll be posting each product every day.

I hope you're enjoying this Christmas season as much as I am.

Estee Lauder Double Wear, Maybelline Fit Me and Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation

I've been on the hunt for most of this year to find my perfect foundation.  I'm not asking for a lot just full coverage with a natural finish, doesn't look cakey, applies easily and lasts all day.  Surely that's not too much to ask ha.

I've lost count of the number of foundations that I've purchased this year in my quest to find "The One".  Not only did I purchase a lot, I also sampled a lot which is a much cheaper way to try things out but isn't always possible.  Some of the ones I tried but didn't love include Revlon Colourstay, Tarte Rainforest of the Sea, Makeup Forever HD Ultra, Too Faced Born This Way and many many more.  But we're not here to talk about the ones I didn't like.  I've found my favourites and I'll list them in order of preference and let you know my thoughts on each.
The best full coverage foundations Estee Lauder Double Wear Tarte Amazonian Clay and Maybelline Fit Me

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

I had previously used this foundation a few years ago and couldn't remember why I stopped using it but this has become my trusty holy grail foundation this year.  I fell in love all over again as soon as I repurchased.  This foundation is a very liquid consistency and I find it applies best with fingers and then blended with a beauty blender.  I find using a buffing brush leaves my skin looking a little cakey but the moisture from the damp beauty blender not only helps even it out but gets rid of any excess.  Estee Lauder Double Wear has a matte finish however I still always apply powder over the top to set.  The foundation is water-resistant and lasts all day on me with only a few signs of wear showing around my nose or if it's been a particularly hot day.  Estee Lauder Double Wear comes in three tones (Cool, Warm and Neutral), 16 different shades and has an SPF 10.  RRP $50 Available in Australia from Myer, David Jones, Sephora, Adore Beauty and selected chemists.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation

This foundation has a much thicker consistency than the Estee Lauder Double Wear.  It applies like a thick cream and I find this one applies best with a buffing brush.  The Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation applies and blends very easily and I find it's necessary to set this with a powder just to make sure it doesn't smudge or transfer.  This foundation definitely gives a full coverage flawless finish but I find it doesn't last quite as long as the Estee Lauder Double Wear.  The Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation comes in three tones also (Cool, Warm and Neutral), 25 different shades and has no SPF making it great for nights out where there'll be flash photography. RRP $54 available in Australia from Sephora.

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation

I was so surprised and happy when I found an amazing full coverage foundation from a drug store. I've been a fan of Maybelline for years, especially their mascaras and cream eyeshadows but it had been a very long time since I'd tried out any of their foundations.  After reading a lot of positive reviews I decided to try it out for myself and was pleasantly surprised to find this is a great dupe for the Estee Lauder Double Wear but a heck of a lot cheaper.  This also has a very fluid consistency and applies best with fingers and then blended with a beauty blender.  The coverage is buildable and I always apply two layers to get the coverage I love.  The biggest difference between this and the Estee Lauder Double Wear is that this one has a dewy finish although as I said previously I always set my foundation with a powder which gives it a matte finish anyway.  The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation doesn't have the lasting power that the previous two foundations have but at such a cheap price I don't mind having to re-powder or touch-up during the day. This is available in 10 shades and has an SPF 18 making it a great everyday alternative. RRP $18.95 and is available from Priceline, Coles, Woolworths and most chemists.

I hope this helps you if you're on your own quest to find your perfect foundation.  All foundations obviously sit quite differently depending on your skin type and what may work for me may not work for you.  In any case I'd love to hear if you have any suggestions of your favourite foundations so feel free to leave a comment below.  I do feel like my quest for the perfect foundation may not ever be over haha.

Marie Claire The Parcel Summer Edition 2016

I love it when the email comes through from Australia Post letting me know that 'The Parcel' is on it's way for delivery.  Even more so at this time of the year because Summer is my favourite season.  Unfortunately I wasn't wowed by 'The Parcel' Summer edition this time around.  There was just nothing in it that I was that excited about.  Here's what was in the Summer edition of Marie Claire 'The Parcel'...

Flatlay of Marie Claire The Parcel Summer Edition 2016

Nude by Nature Sheer Glow BB Cream
This is a trial size BB cream that is unfortunately in the shade 04 Natural Tan.  I am far too pale to ever be able to use this.

Moroccanoil Treatment Oil
I love this hair oil and already have a big bottle of this as well as another trial size.  This will get used eventually but as a little goes along way it'll be awhile before I get to it.  It's a great size to take away traveling.

Banana Boat New Sun Comfort Ltotion SPF 50+
I do like the sound of this because it says on the bottle that sand easily brushes off it and it's 4 hour water resistent.  Sounds to me like it would be perfect for a day at the beach so I'll definitely get some use out of this very soon.

NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads
There are 5 pads in this little trial pack and I've actually already collected a few of these previously so I really need to try them out soon as they sound like a great alternative to my Alpha H Liquid Gold - especially if I'm low on time.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser - Light-Medium
This is a full sized gradual tanning moisturiser.  I'm one of those people who is either white or has a spray tan.  I've never really been bothered with gradual tanners mainly because I'm hopeless at remembering to put it on every day but I do like the brand Jergens so maybe I'll try this out and see what it's like.

Avene Miceller Lotion
This is the other full sized product in 'The Parcel' this edition but as someone who hasn't caught on at all to the miceller water trend it just doesn't interest me.  I always feel like my face isn't clean when I use miceller water so I'd much rather use a cleansing oil and a flannel so I know for sure that all my makeup has been removed.

Palmers Coconut Oil Body Lotion
This does sound and smell really nice.  Palmers make such beautiful body products I can't wait to give this a whirl.

Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Facial Mask
This is a little sachet sample of a face mask.  I probably won't use this as I don't have congested or blemish prone skin.

Schick Hydro Silk Razor
I feel like this isn't the first time I've received this but it is handy to have a new shaver.  I just don't really understand why they put them in these beauty boxes.

Klorane Conditioner
Why would you give us conditioner and not the matching shampoo?  I always double shampoo my hair so go through my shampoo a lot more than conditioner.  I'll probably just give this away, it doesn't interest me at all.

The Parcel by Marie Claire is a subscription beauty box service that delivers quarterly.  Subscriptions start from $25 a quarter and there are a few different options available.  Head to if you'd like to know more.

What did you think of this month's 'The Parcel'?

Kayte xx

*I pay for this subscription with my own money and just like any review I write these are always my own words and opinions.  Honesty always.

Kat Von D, MetalMatte, Metal Crush, Matte, Eyeshadow, Swatches,
Kat Von D, MetalMatte, Metal Crush, Matte, Eyeshadow, Swatches,

Have you ever had a dream about a certain makeup product?  Maybe I'm just showing how much I think about makeup in general but from the moment I saw the Kat Von D MetalMatte palette online I just loved it and it even featured in one of my dreams a little while back.  I was madly waiting for this to pop up online as I'm a 2 hour drive away from my closest Sephora but it never did (and only just has this week).  Luckily for me I ended up attending the opening of the new Sephora store at Warringah Mall on the Northern Beaches of Sydney which gave me the perfect opportunity to see and swatch this in real life and subsequently purchase it.

Kat Von D, MetalMatte, Metal Crush, Matte, Eyeshadow, Swatches,

The Kat Von D MetalMatte palette features 22 shades, 9 on the top row which are the Metal Crush formula and 13 matte shades on the bottom row.  The Metal Crush shadows are some of the most pigmented shimmery eye-shadows I've come across and they give a very intense true to colour application.  The matte shades are also super pigmented and buttery soft.  The shades in the palette are unique and give a nice change to the neutral toned palettes I'm drowning in although if I'm completely honest I'm not sure how much I'm actually going to use this palette on a day to day basis.

Let's talk about the packaging.  This is an extremely large palette, something I just didn't grasp until I saw and held it for myself in store.  The logo on the front was drawn by Kat Von D herself and is an ambigram; it reads Metal one way and when you flip it upside down it reads Matte.  It's housed in a thick cardboard case and has a large mirror inside.  You can see in the photo below compared to the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette just how much bigger than most this palette is.

Kat Von D, MetalMatte, Metal Crush, Matte, Eyeshadow, Swatches,
KatVonD MetalMatte Palette vs Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette for size comparison
Overall this is an impressive palette by Kat Von D.  The high contrast colour offering, the quality and pigmentation of each eye-shadow and the unique packaging make the MetalMatte palette an awesome buy for any makeup lover and definitely those who need more bright colours in their collection.

This retails for $95AUD and is currently only available in Australia in Sephora.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this palette in the comments section below.

Kayte xx

*I purchased this palette with my own money at a Sephora Media Preview however I was given a 20% discount.  This does not affect my review in any way.  Honesty Always.

Thursday, December 1, 2016

My favourites are a bit boring this month and I've featured a couple of products that I've mentioned in favourites before.  I'm using this as a kick up the bum to use some different products this month.

Zoeva En Taupe Eyeshadow Palette
I am so in love with this palette.  There's a great variety of nude shades and there's not one colour that I don't use.  The shadows are so buttery and pigmented which is why I just can't stop reaching for it.

Colorpop Supershock Cheek Highlighter
I placed my first Colorpop order last month during their free shipping sale and have been pretty impressed.  The texture of this highlighter is quite different and has an almost creamy feel to it.  I still use a powder brush to apply and it is a really awesome highlighter.

Moroccan Oil
Still loving this little beauty and the soft, shiny hair it gives me.

Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore Cover BB Cream
02 Natural Beige
I purchase this Korean BB Cream from ebay after seeing some recommendations for it and it's blown me away.  It cost around $10 and is a neutral toned, full coverage foundation that sits beautifully on my skin and gives the most amazing matte finish.  Added bonus of SPF30. In love!

Essence Exit to Explore Blush
01 My Heart is Beating Like a Jungle Drum
I can't place the scent of this blush but it's an amazing sweet scent that fills my nose every time I open and apply this blush.  This Essence blush is incredibly pigmented, blends super easily and leaves a matte finish.  At around $8 this was another great value buy.

I'd love to know what products you loved last month.
Feel free to leave any links in the comments below.

On Thursday 17th November Sephora opened it's fourth store in NSW and I was lucky enough to be invited to the Media Preview a couple of hours before the store officially opened.  There was a huge queue of about 500 people waiting to get in store (and get some freebies) and with a DJ playing the atmosphere was totally buzzing.

Pic Credit: Sephora Australia Facebook

I felt totally spoilt to be able to be one of the first in the store and I had the best time playing with all the brand new testers.  We were also given a 20% off voucher to spend on the day so I couldn't resist picking up a few goodies.  I was so undecided about the Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette but I'd literally had a dream about it and in the end I just couldn't resist.  It's a beautiful palette but to be really honest it's not that practical for me.  I also picked up a Sephora single eyeshadow in Satin Corset No281.  This is my third Sephora single eyeshadow now and I've been super impressed with the shimmer range as they are so buttery and pigmented.  Following on in my eyeshadow trend I picked up the 3CE (does anyone know how to pronounce that brand name) Long Wear Eye Crayon in Pleasure.  I've never tried anything from this brand so I'll be really interested to see how this wears.

My haul from the day
The staff in store were super helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was assisted without being overbearing.  They also snuck some trial and sample size goodies in my bag at the checkout which always puts a smile on my face.

My haul plus freebies
The opening of Sephora at the Warringah Mall was such a fun event and if you live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney I urge you to head over and check it out.  The whole mall is amazing and with a Sephora, Mecca Maxima and an H&M it's got everything I ever wanted all in one place.

Where do you hope the next Sephora store will open?  I'm hoping for Adelaide because I used to live there and I know how sorely needed it is!

Okay okay I'm extremely late in posting about these as September is now a distant memory but I'll fill you in as quick as I can about these products that I managed to finish or am throwing out.

St Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub
I always have one of these in my bathroom as it's a great basic face and body scrub that doesn't cost the earth.

Clinique Moisture Surge
This was a trial size moisturiser that I fell in love with.  Will definitely be repurchasing.

CROP Natural Face Primer*
Not a fan at all - only used a few times - am throwing out!

Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil
I'm a massive fan of everything Clarins and this body oil is no exception - it's so luxe and applies amazingly.  I would use this all the time if it wasn't so bloody expensive.

A'kin Rosehip Oil
I pretty much always use an oil after my serum and before my moisturiser - this is one of my faves.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser
The best foaming cleanser for dry skin.  Actually does not dry out your skin but still leaves you with that fresh clean feeling.

Lancome Genefique
This was a cute little sample that lasted about a week.  I didn't notice anything special enough to convince me to buy it.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm
My holy grail lipbalm.  I am never without this little pot of gold.

Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pen
I was excited about this because I thought it would be awesome for fixing up makeup mistakes and evening out liquid eyeliner but whilst it is good for the first use, after that the wand becomes dirty so if you want to use it again it just transfers any dark colours on the wand back onto your face.  Doh!

Maybelline Master Shape Eyebrow Pencil
Didn't like.

Australis Eye Pencil
I've had this for waaaay too long.  Bin.

Mascara cull - empties September 2016

I'm terrible at throwing products away but last month I took a look in one of my drawers and quickly saw I had a collection of mascaras that definitely needed throwing away.  There are seven here in total and I won't bore you with a review on each one, I'll keep it short and make a winners and losers list below.

Maybelline Full n Soft
Maxfactor Masterpiece Transform
Essence Get Big Lashes Waterproof

Crop Natural Volumising Mascara
Loreal False Lash Wings Waterproof
Maybelline Plumped Up Colossal Volum' Express
Loreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture

I'm pretty fussy with my mascaras as I'm prone to them smudging and I need some good volume on my already curly lashes.  Recently I found my holy grail mascara so I won't be repurchasing any of the mascaras here in this post.  You can read my full review here of my new favourite Poni Cosmetics Mascara.

Don't forget mascaras only have a life of three months once they're opened so keep an eye on your current stash and throw any old ones away.  It's the perfect excuse to try out a new one!

Top five favourite beauty products for September 2016 including Zoeva En Taupe palette, Estee Lauder Double Wear, Morocanoil, Jojoba Oil and Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentrate

September seems to have gone by in a flash but it's starting to warm up now and Spring is well and truly here teasing us with some warm days and then turning it all around with a cold rainy day.

Here's the Top Five Beauty Products I loved last month.

Estee Lauder Double Wear
In my search to find the perfect full coverage foundation I ended up picking up this foundation again.  It's been a couple of years since I used it and I'd put off buying it because I thought it wouldn't suit my skin now that it's more on the drier side.  As soon as I put it on I couldn't remember why I'd ever stopped using this.  Estee Lauder Double Wear is definitely my Holy Grail foundation, it gives flawless coverage, lasts all day and doesn't go cakey!!

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentrate
I'd seen heaps of great reviews for this moisturiser but had never got around to purchasing it until I placed an Adore Beauty order last month and added it to my cart on a whim.  It's a beautiful moisturiser that feels so lovely and hydrating.  I've been using it as a primer under the Estee Lauder Double Wear and it applies like a dream leaving a soft dewy finish.

Moroccan Oil
Another product I used to love and haven't repurchased for ages this trial size came as a bonus in my Adore Beauty order and I fell in love all over again.  I know it's the silicones that give my hair that soft silky feeling but I love it and it helps keep the frizz at bay - something I definitely need help with.

Zoeva En Taupe Eyeshadow Palette
A mix of shimmer and matte shades this is the ultimate soft nudes palette for cool toned peeps like me.

The Jojoba Company 100% Jojoba Oil
This is a beautifully hydrating oil that isn't quite as heavy as my normal Rosehip Oil.  It sits really well under both my day and night cream and doesn't interfere with my makeup at all during the day.

Well that's another month done and dusted... only 2 more months till Summer, I can't wait!!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil - Travel Size Set of 5 - Delirious
I picked up this set in my recent Mecca haul as I'd heard really good things about these eyeliners and I thought it was a good opportunity to try out a few different colours without purchasing them all fullsize.  I don't use coloured eyeliners a lot so it seems a bit silly to fork out $33 for each individual shade when this kit for five mini sizes was only $48.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil - Travel Size Set of 5 - Delirious

Unfortunately this review is not a positive one and I have a few different reasons why.  I'll review each shade individually.

"black matte"
This is really pigmented and really black.  Unfortunately it just doesn't stick to the eyes.  It is an extremely soft eyeliner meaning it's hard to get a precise line and if you attempt to blend it out with a blending brush it just blends right off your eye.

"a smoky black with blue and green sparkle"
This looks absolutely nothing like the green that's shown on the box and that pissed me off the most about this set.  The green shown on the box looks like a bright forest green colour when in actual fact this is more of a khaki green and hardly shows up at all on the eyes

"deep metallic purple with shimmer"
I'm still searching for a really good purple eyeliner that actually shows a true colour.  Similar to the green this just doesn't show up on the eyes and turns into more of a muddy brown when blended.

"bright metallic blue with shimmer"
This is the best of a bad lot.  This is an actual blue eyeliner and shows up fairly well but as with all the eyeliners in this set they are just too soft and when blended they just come straight off.

"deep metallic brown with burgundy shimmer"
Hard to see the burgundy shimmer they're referring to here - this is your basic brown eyeliner and is probably the only one that shows it's true colours on the eyes.

Overall I would say don't waste your money on this set.  I certainly won't be wearing these eyeliners at all which is a total waste of the $48 I paid for it.  I just hope this review stops someone else wasting their money.  I'd love to hear from anyone who's tried the full size of these liners to see if its a common theme with all their liners or if they've just cheaped out with their mini travel set.

I bought mine from Mecca Maxima.  More details can be found at

Liptember 2016 Beauty Box Overview

I'm a sucker for a beauty box but when I saw this one was supporting women's mental health it was a no brainer for me to sign-up and support this initiative.

Depression, anxiety, PTSD and PND are all things that have affected friends and family as well as me personally so setting aside a month of the year to raise funds specifically for organisations that are supporting women with mental health issues is something close to my heart.  The Liptember campaign is designed to raise funds and awareness for mental health issues throughout the month of September.  All funds raised are donated to the Centre for Women's Mental Health and Lifeline.

The Beauty Box is just one of the ways to support this campaign and the cost is $30 (plus $8.95 for postage).  When I received my box I was blown away by how heavy it was - definitely needed both hands.  When I opened the box I just couldn't believe how much they'd crammed in.  It was definitely a lot more than $30 worth of product.  Check out the pics below to see everything that was in the box.

Liptember 2016 Beauty Box Overview

There's only a few days left of September and I'm not sure how long the beauty boxes will be available for so head over to the website quick if you'd like to support this awesome campaign and get an awesome supply of beauty products at the same time.

The Spring Edition of the Parcel landed on my doorstep yesterday and as usual it was stacked full of products.  This is by far my favourite beauty subscription service and is now the only one I'm subscribed to.

Here's what was inside:

Marie Claire The Parcel Spring Edition 2016

Marie Claire The Parcel Spring Edition 2016

St Tropez Classic Bronzing Mousse and Applicator Mitt
I love the St Tropez tanning products - they always produce such a natural colour and I was glad they included the tanning mitt - definitely a must for application.

C-LAB & CO Coffee & Coconut Scrub
I haven't heard of this brand before but I love these type of body scrubs - excited to try this out.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask
This is a small sample of a mask - I'm not sure that I'll try this as it might be too 'purifying' for my dry skin.

MOR Mon Amie Adele Luminous Body Milk
This smells really light and refreshing and is in a spray form making it super easy to just spray on, rub in and go.

Narciso Rodriguez Eau de Toilette
This is a 4ml sample

Sunsense Sensitive Invisible SPF50
Another little sample - good size to throw in the handbag and I'm sure will come in handy in Summer.

Nude by Nature Natural Mineral Cover
I was excited to see this as I really like this product but unfortunately the shade is Medium and is way too dark for me.

Essano Argan Oil of Morocco Duo Pack
2x 50ml bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner.  I like to keep these aside for future holidays as they're the perfect size for travelling with.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi Purpose Dry Oil
This is a 10ml trial size bottle of absolute liquid gold.  One of my favourite body oils.  Love this!

Maybelline New York The Nudes Palette
This is probably the star product out of the whole box.  A full size palette of 12 nude eyeshadows.

Overall this is another box that I'm really happy with.  I think this box is great value for money with a good mix of products I already know and love and some new brands and products to try out.  The Parcel costs $25 per box and comes out four times a year (seasonally).

I've been raving about this mascara in just about every post these last couple of months so I thought it was about time I gave it it's own review.  The Poni Cosmetics White Knight mascara became my new holy grail mascara the very first time I used it.  It's the very first tubular mascara I've ever tried and when it came with Zoe Foster Blake's endorsement... well that was the only encouragement I needed to give it a try.

What Poni Cosmetics say about The White Knight Mascara:

"It truly is the ultimate mascara! This tubular mascara has a list of features and benefits as long as your arm. No Panda eyes ever - guaranteed, Water resistant, doesn't run, smudge or transfer onto the skin, even in humid weather, great for sensitive eyes, simply slides off using just water in the shower, build able and safe to use with lash extensions, contains 3 powerful growth ingredients and has a dual functioning brush - volume and length. The perfect mascara for any one, of any age."

For those of you who don't know about tubular mascara, they're not too much different to regular mascaras in their application and look but on the lash they kind of wrap around each lash individually like a tube.  You can't really tell when you're applying it - in fact the only way I can tell is when I'm removing it.  This is the easiest mascara in the world to remove as it doesn't require any special cleanser just some warm water and swipe away.  You'll see the mascara come off in little tubes or lines on your makeup pad.

The White Knight mascara is in your basic mascara packaging but the brush is actually two brushes in one.  You have two choices Volume or Length - they're the exact same brush except when you unscrew the wand from the top (Length) end it scrapes off excess product similar to wringing out a mop.  When you unscrew from the volume end it leaves that excess product on hence giving you more product and more volume.

The White Knight mascara gives me length, curl and volume all in one tube.  It applies easily and removes like a dream.  But the very best part of this mascara and why I love it so so much is that IT DOESN'T SMUDGE.  EVER.  In hot weather, cold weather, rainy weather, gone are the days of panda eyes and my mascara dotting under my eyebrows when I look up.

In summary; Volume, Length, Curl, No smudge. Amazing!! RRP $30

The Jaclyn Hill Ride or Die Tag - My Holy Grail Beauty Products

I love finding out what people's holy grail beauty products are so when I saw Jaclyn Hill make the Ride or Die Tag YouTube video I just knew I had to do it too.  Obviously I don't make YouTube videos but I thought I'd do a blog post all the same.  The rules are simple: List your ride or die cosmetic product from each category (foundation, blush, mascara, lip products etc).  If you could only take ONE from each category to a desert island, which would you choose?
