a photo of beauty products hauled from sephora and mecca maxima

It's been awhile since I'd been able to pop down to Sydney and do some proper shopping so I took the opportunity to book in a girls shopping weekend for my recent birthday.  We were supposed to be shopping for clothes but I just knew I wouldn't be able to resist visiting Sephora and Mecca as it had been such a long time since I'd been in-store.  We went to Macquarie Park in Sydney as this shopping centre has both Sephora and Mecca Maxima as well as an awesome variety of clothes shops.  The pictures below show what I picked up but I'll also run you through each one with prices etc.

Used and empty products from January to June 2016
Empties - First half of 2016

There's something to be said for people who look through other people's bins.  Creepy maybe? I prefer to look through people's mail myself haha.  Over the last few months I've saved some (not all) of my empties to show you.  I love reading post's like this, because to me, it shows the products people are actually using rather than just doing a review on a product they were sent or have only used a few times.  Here are some thoughts on the products I finished.

Alpha H Liquid Gold
Holy Grail - I use this chemical exfoliant 2-3 times a week to keep my skin clear and glowing.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel
Shit I love this stuff so much!  It's bloody expensive for a body wash but it does last me a long time - probably because I only use a small amount because I know how expensive it is ha!

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Skin Primer
This is one of the first primers I ever used and loved and it really is a beautiful product.  Personally I find the Face of Australia Primer to be exactly the same (for a quarter of the price) so I would normally purchase that one over this one.  I think I received this as a gift for my birthday last year.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi Purpose Dry Oil
An amazing oil that smells divine and can be used on body, face or hair.  Love it.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
I use this everyday as a concealer and brightener under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose.  I've already purchased a new one.

Limecrime Eyeshadow Helper
This is a great eye primer, it helps eyeshadow really stick and last all day without creasing.  I would repurchase but I'm trying out the Urban Decay one at the moment.

IT Cosmetics YLBB Waterproof Lip Liner
Another Holy Grail product that I've already repurchased.  This lip liner is the perfect my lips but better colour and lasts a really long time.  Sometimes I just wear this with a clear balm or gloss over top.

Go-to Face Hero Oil
I'm a serious Zoe Foster Blake fan girl so I really want to tell you that this Face Oil is amazing but it just wasn't the case for me.  Packaging is cute and it smells great but it just didn't give my dry skin enough hydration.  I'm just sticking with my normal Rosehip Oil now.

These are a few of my favourite things.... June 2016

Picked out a few products that I was loving last month to show you.  Skincare wise to combat my dry skin I've been alternating between the Alpha H Liquid Gold and A'kin Rosehip Oil at night.  It seems to be doing the trick by exfoliating off the dry skin with the Liquid Gold and repairing and hydrating with the Rosehip Oil.

The Nivea Mens Post Shave Balm is my new go-to primer and I'm absolutely loving it - you can read my review here but it's silky soft, super hydrating and makes foundation super easy to blend.

On my recent trip home to New Zealand I picked up two single Mac eye shadow pans in Satin Taupe and Grain and I wear them most days for a simple defined eye look. To top it off the Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Cherry is the perfect tinted lip balm for cold days and chapped lips.

I'd love to know what products you're loving this winter - feel free to comment or link down below.

dehydrated dry winter skin products
My Top Three Winter Products for Re-hydrating

I'm not a fan of winter.  I hate the cold, dreary days and even colder dark nights.  The worst part of winter for me is my normal to dry skin becomes super dry and there isn't enough water in the world I could drink that would fix it.  Naturally I'm always on the look out for products that will hydrate without feeling sticky or leave a greasy residue.  These three products are my absolute can't live without winter products;

Nivea In-Shower Smooth Lotion - This is perfect because you apply it while you're still in the shower, rinse it off, get out and pat dry.  It leaves a soft film of moisturiser on your skin and saves standing in the freezing cold trying to rub in moisturiser and then waiting for it to dry.  I use this religiously every time I shower and it leaves my skin smooth and hydrated! (RRP$7.99)

Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm - My absolute holy grail lip balm that I can't live without, I use this every single night before I go to bed and Voila! in the morning my lips are super soft.  This is a really thick balm and has a slightly strange texture but I guarantee once you start using it you won't be able to stop. (RRP$19.95)

Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask - I can't even remember where I got this trial sized mask from but it was love at first try.  I pop this on once or twice a week at night, let it soak in and then off to bed I go.  In the morning once it's washed off my skin feels bouncy and hydrated with no sign of dry patches.  This is the perfect pick me up if you've spent the day outside braving the wind and rain. (RRP$25 - 50ml - $39 - 100ml)

If you hate winter like me or have dry or dehyrated skin I hope this post helps you out.  Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below or just tell me why I'm stupid for hating winter and it's the best season of the year ;)
