Have you ever had a dream about a certain makeup product? Maybe I'm just showing how much I think about makeup in general but from the moment I saw the Kat Von D MetalMatte palette online I just loved it and it even featured in one of my dreams a little while back. I was madly waiting for this to pop up online as I'm a 2 hour drive away from my closest Sephora but it never did (and only just has this week). Luckily for me I ended up attending the opening of the new Sephora store at Warringah Mall on the Northern Beaches of Sydney which gave me the perfect opportunity to see and swatch this in real life and subsequently purchase it.
The Kat Von D MetalMatte palette features 22 shades, 9 on the top row which are the Metal Crush formula and 13 matte shades on the bottom row. The Metal Crush shadows are some of the most pigmented shimmery eye-shadows I've come across and they give a very intense true to colour application. The matte shades are also super pigmented and buttery soft. The shades in the palette are unique and give a nice change to the neutral toned palettes I'm drowning in although if I'm completely honest I'm not sure how much I'm actually going to use this palette on a day to day basis.

Let's talk about the packaging. This is an extremely large palette, something I just didn't grasp until I saw and held it for myself in store. The logo on the front was drawn by Kat Von D herself and is an ambigram; it reads Metal one way and when you flip it upside down it reads Matte. It's housed in a thick cardboard case and has a large mirror inside. You can see in the photo below compared to the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette just how much bigger than most this palette is.

Overall this is an impressive palette by Kat Von D. The high contrast colour offering, the quality and pigmentation of each eye-shadow and the unique packaging make the MetalMatte palette an awesome buy for any makeup lover and definitely those who need more bright colours in their collection.
This retails for $95AUD and is currently only available in Australia in Sephora.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this palette in the comments section below.

*I purchased this palette with my own money at a Sephora Media Preview however I was given a 20% discount. This does not affect my review in any way. Honesty Always.
