The Perfect Pink Lip with Dupes from Kylie Cosmetics, Mac, Limecrime, Colourpop & NYX
Dupes L:R - Mac Cosmetics Creme Cup, NYX Liquid Suede in Tea & Cookies, Limecrime Velvetine in Prairie, Kylie Cosmetics Lipkit in Smile and Colourpop Ultra Matte in Clueless

I'm a huge fan of pink lipsticks so it's no surprise that a lot of my lipsticks are dupes for each other.  It's rare that you'll find me wearing anything other than pink on my lips and I love anything that gives me that 'My Lips But Better' shade.  Recently I reviewed the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Smile and as it's currently not stocked on Kylie Cosmetics I was wondering what I would do when it ran out.  Turns out the perfect dupe arrived in the mail a couple of weeks ago as a free gift with purchase from Limecrime.

MorpheMe Makeup Brush Subscription Club - May 2017 Voyage to Glam

I recently signed up to the MorpheMe Makeup Brush Club and received my first parcel of brushes last month.  You can check out what I got last month by clicking here but it was definitely love at first sight!

I received this month's parcel of brushes a couple of weeks ago but I've been a bit lazy with my blogging lately so these are a bit late going up.  For those of you who don't know the MorpheMe Brush Club is just as it sounds.  You pay a set fee every month ($20USD) and receive $30USD worth of Morphe brushes.  Shipping is free if you live in the US but costs extra for me here in Australia.  They promise to give you anywhere between 3 and 7 brushes per month and never the same brush twice.  They also have the option of a six month or annual subscription which makes it even cheaper.

How to Keep Red Hair From Fading

Making the decision to go from a brunette to a red-head was an easy one for me.  I was looking for a change but I didn't have the time or money to go blonde and I have naturally pale skin and green eyes so I knew being a red-head would suit me.

Platinum Beauty Makeup Brush & Sponge Collection

As a trained makeup artist (no longer practicing) I can't stress enough how important good quality makeup brushes are.  They don't have to necessarily be expensive but for makeup artists, brushes are tools of the trade and they are worth investing in.  I'm pretty fussy about the makeup brushes I use.  There are so many crap brushes out there (I have a drawer full of them) and honestly, it's just not worth using them.

MorpheMe Makeup Brush Club April 2017 Deluxe Tapered Powder (R10), Deluxe Pointed Blender (R40) Pro Flat Contour (R8)

I'm quite a big fan of Morphe brushes so when I found out recently that they had a brush subscription service I knew I was definitely going to sign up.  My first brushes arrived midway through April and I was super happy with what I received.  I also received a bonus brush for using someone's affiliate code (Keep reading - I'll have one for you at the end of this post).

Mecca Beauty Loop Level 2 April 2017

It's Beauty Loop time again at Mecca so I popped into my local store on the weekend and picked up my box.  For those of you who don't know the Beauty Loop is a rewards program that is run by Mecca.  Depending on how much money you spend each year at Mecca you are placed on a level and receive rewards accordingly.  I am Level 2 and this is what was in my Mecca Beauty Loop box this quarter.

My Favourite Beauty Products for April 2017

Blogging took a little bit of a backseat in April as I went away to visit family in Adelaide for a couple of weeks and was subjected to a house with no wi-fi.  Let's just say I used up all my data in the first 3 days haha. For anyone wondering, I would rather get teeth pulled with no pain relief than go on a plane with my toddler again but that's a story for another day.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Reloaded Waterproof Mascara Review

It's gonna be a pretty quick review today but I wanted to tell you about this new mascara that Rimmel released last month called the Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara.

Unboxing The Parcel, Marie Claire, Autumn 2017, Beauty Box

Another season is upon us meaning it's time for a new The Parcel by Marie Claire beauty box.  I've tried a lot of beauty subscription boxes and in my opinion this is one of the best in Australia.  Unfortunately this month's box is a bit of a let down for me but I'll show you what's inside and you can decide if you agree or disagree!

Lime Crime, Velvetine, Lipstick, Prairie, Swatches, Review, Dupes

It's been a long time since I purchased anything from Lime Crime.  Their tarnished history made me pretty dubious of the company and I basically unfollowed them on all my social media.  That was until the Lime Crime Hi-Lite Opals Palette was released (read more here).  The palette was good enough for me to place an order with the company and cross my fingers they were doing better.  With my palette came this free Velvetine in the shade Prairie and it was love at first swatch.

I'm actually finding it so hard to believe that a quarter of the year is gone already and March just seems to have flown by.  My Favourites were super easy this month as they're all new additions that I'm just loving.

Sephora Collection Single Eyeshadows - Review and Swatches

I love going to Sephora.  I mean who doesn't really?  I just love taking my time instore to check out new products and swatch eyeshadows and lipsticks till there's no room left on my arms!  On one of my visits last year I was checking out the Sephora branded makeup and I started swatching eyeshadows.  I wasn't expecting much, to be honest I thought they'd be shit, but I was wrong.   The Sephora Collection single eyeshadows can be quite hit and miss, the first few colours I swatched were powdery and lacked in pigmentation but I kept swatching and found a few amazing shades.

It's that time of the year again when Priceline holds a two-day sale with 40% off all cosmetics.  I like to stock up on items I love during the sale but this time I already had enough back-ups.  I almost wasn't even going to go in-store and check it out but I caved and went anyway haha.

I kept a good handle on myself and only left the store with 5 items.  Pretty restrained for me!

Here's what I picked up today in the Priceline 40% off Cosmetics Sale:

Kylie Cosmetics Smile Lip Kit - Review & Swatches

I purchased my first Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit about a year ago in the shade Posie K.  I lean towards natural colours when it comes to my lips and Posie K was just too dark for me and I never wore it.  I liked the formula and that it lasted so well but I was on the hunt for a pink toned natural shade and nothing in the range really spoke out to me.  That was until I managed to get my hands on the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in the shade Smile.

Limecrime Hi-Lite Opals Review & Swatches
On Tuesday I was blogging about how to get perfectly glowing skin this season using some amazing new skincare but today we get to discuss the real GLOW!  I was so excited when I saw the preview for the Limecrime Hi-Lite Opals Palette that I signed up straight away to be notified when it was released.  Of course within minutes of receiving that email it was in my cart and I was checking out with no regrets.

Luxe Skincare: Alpha H, Mirenesse, Elemis, Medik8, Payot

Another season is upon us and as the weather starts to change and gradually get colder it's a great time to revisit your current skincare regime and make some changes.  I have normal to dry skin but I definitely find that during the Autumn/Winter months my skin leans more towards the dry side.  Even if your skin is on the oilier or combination side I still think you should be looking at adding in some skin type specific hydration into your routine.  Ry.com.au have recently introduced a new category of skincare known as the Luxe Range and have been kind enough to send me a few goodies to try.  In today's post I'm going to show you my updated skincare routine and some of the new products I'm trying out to get perfectly glowing skin this season.

Following on from my post last week detailing my Makeup & Bodycare Empties that had been accumulating for months, today brings my Skincare & Haircare trash.  I will follow on the same way as last week and list all the products with a brief thought and will link any relevant posts too.

Let's Go...

Friday, March 3, 2017

I had a massive pile of Empties that was getting completely out of hand so I've grouped them into four categories Makeup, Skincare, Bodycare and Haircare and will spread them over two blog posts so as not to bore you with a 400 page essay about my rubbish.

Today is Makeup & Bodycare Products.  I won't go into detail about each product, I'll just list them all and if I've anything to say I'll write that next to it.  If you want to know more about a product feel free to ask in the comment section below or on Facebook or Instagram.

Aromatherapy Associates, Goodness Chia Seed Oil, Kylie Cosmetics Holiday Collection, Milani Cosmetics Luminoso, Mecca Cosmetica Lip Balm
My Favourites for February 2017

I love writing these posts each month as it gives me a chance to look over all my beauty products and do a little audit to see what I'm using and what I'm not.  I often take this time to change up my skincare in the bathroom, or find a makeup product I haven't used in a while and remind myself to use it the next month.

tips to help make your foundation last longer

Skincare

For flawless makeup you always need to start by prepping your base.  Using the correct skincare is vital to making sure that your skin is healthy so that when you put your foundation on it stays put.  Start by working out your skin type: oily, dry, combination, sensitive and then make sure that your skincare fits those needs.  Once you've cleansed your face and applied a moisturiser wait at least ten minutes for it to sink in before applying your primer and foundation.

Primer

Once your skincare has settled on your skin I always recommend to apply a primer.  You can pick up primers pretty cheap these days and this is another product that needs to suit your skin type.  If you have oily skin look for primers that have silicone's in them or say mattifying on the tube.  If your skin is dry you want to look for hydrating primers.  Wait a minute before applying your foundation.  My favourite primer is still the Nivea Mens Aftershave Balm - click here to read all about it.

Foundation

When applying your foundation there are so many tools you can use like sponges, brushes or even just fingers.  Choose whichever works best for you and your foundation.  I find that foundations work differently with different applications so I usually try various ways first and then stick with the proven method.  I've been using Estee Lauder Double Wear a lot lately and I get the best finish by using a damp beauty blender sponge to really press this into the skin.  If you want to read about my favourite foundations click here.

Powder

Once your foundation has been applied, and concealer if you need it, a light dusting of powder is going to prolong the life of your foundation a lot.  There's a lot of powders to choose from, if oil is a problem for you again you're probably going to be looking for a mattifying powder.  If you're the type of person who likes to touch up with powder during the day I would opt for a loose translucent powder or a very light pressed powder.  You don't want to be adding more coverage each time you powder or it will buildup and look cakey.  Use a pressed powder colour matched to your skin if you're looking for additional coverage and you're not going to touch up too many times during the day.

Don't Touch!

Once you've followed these steps and have nailed the skincare, primer, foundation and powder my last piece of advice and probably the most important is to keep your hands off your face.  Make a conscious effort to not lean on your hands on your desk, or put your head in your hands or just randomly touch your face during the day.  Remember your hands come into contact with so much during the day and you don't want to be transferring all those oils and bacteria onto your face.

Feel free to ask any questions in the comment section below or leave any tips you have to making your foundation last longer.  Love to hear from you.

I was recently given the opportunity to visit my local Franck Provost Paris hair salon to have a treatment and a blow-dry.  I live in Newcastle in NSW and my closest store is located at the Westfield at Kotara.  Just a disclaimer to start off with, this is not a paid/sponsored post however, I was provided the treatment and blow-dry free of charge.  I am under no obligation to write about my experience but have chosen to do so.

About My Hair

I have really fine wavy hair that I colour (bright red) myself every 6 weeks or so.  I have long hair (mid way down my back) and am in dire need of a haircut.  My last haircut was around 6 months or so and my split ends are out of control.  I try to take care of it with good quality products but it's so long now I basically wash it a couple of times a week, dry it and then put it up in a ponytail.  To say my hair was in need of a treatment and some love is a massive understatement.

The Salon

Franck Provost Paris is France's No 1 Salon brand and now has 24 stores in Australia with more stores opening later this year.  The Franck Provost salon that I visited is located in Westfield Kotara on the second level next to David Jones.  The Salon uses and stocks Kerastase and Loreal Professional as well as tools by Cloud Nine.  I met two staff members during my visit and both were extremely down to earth and lovely.  The hairdresser who looked after me was the lovely Danae who is also the Store Manager, she was lovely to chat with and answered lots of pesky questions from me with no hesitation.

 The Treatment

When talking with Danae we discussed the need for both shine and nourishment to give my hair a pick me up.  Traditionally treatments only target one area but I was being treated to the Kerastase Fusio Dose Treatment which is basically a tailor-made treatment that is personalised to treat your specific concerns and lasts up to 6 washes.  There are four concentrates and five boosters your hairdresser can choose from to give up to twenty different combinations of treatments.  Once I had discussed and selected my treatment my hair was washed thoroughly.  The treatment is sprayed into the hair a section at a time and massaged into the hair.  I was able to feel my hair before and after the product had been sprayed in and within seconds there was a noticeable difference.  As soon as all the treatment had been sprayed and massaged in I was treated to an amazing head massage and nearly fell asleep.  Unlike other treatments, this one isn't left to soak in for any amount of time.  As soon as the head massage was over the treatment was washed out and I was whisked over to have it blow-dried.

The Blow-Dry

I've never been very talented at doing anything with hair.  Give me a face to paint and I'm all over it, but for some reason, hair has never been my strong suit.  Don't get me wrong I've attempted many times with a round brush and hair dryer to get something happening but my hair just won't co-operate.  Of course, these things are best left to the professionals and as soon as Danae started drying my hair I noticed straight away how much softer my hair was thanks to the treatment.  My wavy unruly hair was blow-dried straight with ease and I was blown away by how healthy and shiny my hair looked at the end.

Before & After - Kerastase Fusio-Dose Treatment
Before & After - Kerastase Fusio-Dose Treatment

Overall Experience

Overall it was an amazing experience, there's nothing like a treatment and blow-dry to make your Friday afternoon the perfect entrance to the weekend.  There was a noticeable difference in the shine and softness of my hair as you can see in the before and after photos.  I've had treatments at the hairdresser before but the Kerastase Fusio-Dose Treatment definitely blows them out of the water.  I still haven't washed my hair since having the treatment so I can't confirm or deny whether the effects last up to 6 washes but I've had a highly enjoyable weekend swishing my soft shiny hair around and not having it up in a ponytail for a change!

A huge thankyou to Danae and the Franck Provost Paris Salon for hosting me and spoiling me rotten.  I'll definitely be heading back to the lovely Danae soon for a much needed hair cut.

If you're looking for a new hairdresser I do recommend checking out your local Franck Provost Salon, their products are beautiful and hopefully, you'll find staff as nice as they are at the Westfield Kotara Franck Provost Salon.

Lioele vs Holika Holika Best Korean BB Creams

Korean BB Creams have been hyped up for a long time now and it's safe to say I'm about five years behind this trend.  Now let me just say from the start that these are nothing like BB Creams we get here in Australia which are basically just glorified tinted moisturisers with new fancy names.  Korean BB Creams are actually more like creamy foundations with medium to full coverage.

I've picked these two BB Creams as my favourites as they both give great coverage with an amazing finish and while they wouldn't last a particularly long day with a setting powder you'll get a good 8 hours out of them.

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream 50ml
Light Beige - only one shade available

This was the first BB Cream I picked up when venturing into the world of Korean BB Creams and it blew me out of the water they first time I applied it.  I just wasn't expecting that type of coverage.  This gives a medium coverage but can easily be built up with another layer for more coverage.  The Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream contains jojoba oil, macadamia nut oil and hyluronic acid derivatives which gives it more of a dewy finish to the skin and keeps it feeling smooth and hydrated.  The only downside to this product is that it is only available in one shade.  This is a 50ml tube with a pump applicator and cost me approximately $15

Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore Cover BB SPF30 PA++
02 Natural Beige 30ml - two shades available

Out of the two Korean BB Cream's this one has slightly more coverage.   The Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore Cover has silicones in it which help it stay on the skin and provide a natural finish that would be slightly more matte than dewy. It is also the slightly lighter of the two but I find the colour to be pretty neutral toned.  I always lean towards yellow toned foundations to even out the pink in my complexion but neutral toned foundations work well too.  This is the smaller of the two at 30ml, is available in two shades and cost's approximately $11

Lioele vs Holika Holika Best Korean BB Creams swatches

It's a tough call but out of the two I'd have to say the Lioele BB Beyond the Solution is my favourite of the two.  It's a slightly better colour match for me and with my skin being on the drier side I appreciate the extra hydrating ingredient.

Both are fantastic base products and I recommend you check either one out if you havn't yet.  They're really well priced for what you get and suitable for most skin types although most definitely limiting for those with darker skin.  I purchased both of these from ebay and shipping took 1-2 weeks.

Have you tried Korean BB Creams before?  I'd love to know if you have a favourite.

Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask Review
Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask

A little while ago, this little beauty popped up on my Instagram news feed with some rave reviews and I don't know about you but that's usually enough for me to hit checkout on any online basket haha.  I had to try it out for myself and see if it was as good as everyone says.  If you can't be bothered reading the rest of this blog post I'll just straight up let you know now that it totally is as good as everyone says.

The main details of the Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask are in the title.  It contains coffee granules to provide physical exfoliation to your skin as well as coconut oil to soothe and hydrate.  As well as the physical exfoliation, this mask also contains an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) which is an active ingredient also designed to exfoliate the skin.

To use you apply the mask in a circular motion all over the face making sure to avoid your eye area and mouth and leave on for 10-15 minutes.  To remove, I use a damp facecloth and slowly rub in a circular motion.  Make sure you do this gently.  As soon as I put the mask on I noticed a tingling sensation which is from the AHA and is completely normal.  If your skin is on the sensitive side the brand do recommend to only leave the mask on for 2-5 minutes and if it starts to feel more uncomfortable than tingly I would definitely suggest removing the mask straight away.

Okay enough with the formal details.  This Mask Is Amazing.  It's one of those mask that you get to see immediate results from.  I'm not one of those people who remember to do masks twice a week - I'm lucky if I do them twice a month so when I put a mask on I need some fast results!  This mask leaves my skin so incredibly exfoliated and smooth but doesn't leave my skin at all dry.  For someone with dry skin this is amazing.  Often when I do masks I need to apply a shit ton of moisturiser afterwards to replenish what the mask has stripped or even apply a hydrating mask but the Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask is truly a mask that does everything.  My skin is instantly brighter and clearer and much much smoother.

Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask Review
Back of the Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask

Okay enough rambling, you can purchase the Bare Babe Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask online from www.barebabe.com.au and the cost is $22.95 for an 80gram pouch with free delivery Australia wide (shipping took about 3 days from memory so super quick).  I've already used this about six times (and made my friends use it too) and there's still well over half left so there's a decent amount of product in there and I truly think it's a massive bargain for the results.

At the moment this is the only product that this company makes but I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for any new products released and keeping my fingers and toes crossed that they're as amazing as the Coffee & Coconut Exfoliating Mask.

Have you tried this mask before?  Feel free to leave me a comment in the box below and let me know what your favourite face mask is.

Beauty Favourites December 2016

Well can you believe that the official "silly season" has been and gone for another year?  I absolutely adore the whole Christmas and New Years season and to be honest I like to stretch the season out for most of January too.  That will be especially easy this year as I'm taking a trip alone (no husband, no baby) to New Zealand to visit my best friend.  To say I'm excited is a huge understatement.

Anyways I've kept it simple for my December Favourites and can you believe there is not one makeup product in there.  First up is the amazing Aromatherapy Associates Instant Wellbeing set that was an early Christmas present from one of my best friends.  I've been lusting after this brand for ages so as soon as I started unwrapping this I was squealing with excitement.  This set is absolutely divine.  It has two rollerball oils - Revive Morning to assist with energy and alertness in the morning and Deep Relax to help you relax and go to sleep at nighttime.  I'm completely obsessed with both of these, they smell absolutely incredible and better than that they actually work!

The Barebabe mask was a sneaky internet buy when I saw lots of people on instagram use it and I didn't regret my purchase.  I'm going to be posting a full review on this mask shortly but it's the perfect mask for summer and gives instant results.  The Mario Badescu Facial Spray is another summer essential for keeping skin hydrated, fresh and as a bonus it helps keep your makeup on for longer.

The Christophe Robin Hair Mask came in my Look Fantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar and it wowed me.  It's a rinse out mask and as someone who has long hair with dry ends this is an absolute saviour.  It made my hair so soft and so much more manageable and I'm going to be very sad when this is all gone.  The Ouai Wave Spray came as a gift at a recent Sephora event and is another product that smells amazing.  The scent actually lasts all day in your hair which I really loved but best of all this gave me lovely soft waves with no crunch and is perfect for days when I just can't be bothered drying and straightening my hair.

Well that's all for this month, I hope you've all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Years.

Kayte xx

*The Ouai was a sample from a recent Sephora event.  The rest of the products were purchased by me.  Honesty always.
