How To Get Perfectly Glowing Skin This Season

Luxe Skincare: Alpha H, Mirenesse, Elemis, Medik8, Payot

Another season is upon us and as the weather starts to change and gradually get colder it's a great time to revisit your current skincare regime and make some changes.  I have normal to dry skin but I definitely find that during the Autumn/Winter months my skin leans more towards the dry side.  Even if your skin is on the oilier or combination side I still think you should be looking at adding in some skin type specific hydration into your routine.  Ry.com.au have recently introduced a new category of skincare known as the Luxe Range and have been kind enough to send me a few goodies to try.  In today's post I'm going to show you my updated skincare routine and some of the new products I'm trying out to get perfectly glowing skin this season.

Luxe Skincare Cleansers, Mirenesse Pebblesonic Day Cleanser, Alpha H, Dermalogica

Cleansing & Exfoliating

I always use a cleansing oil first to dissolve and remove all of my makeup.  You don't have to buy a specific cleansing oil, you can always just use some coconut or olive oil, just make sure you follow up with another cleanser.   I've been trying out the Mirenesse Pebblesonic Skin Clearing Facial Beauty Device which comes with a Day & Night Cleanser.  The night cleanser is a little too harsh for my dry skin and would be more suited to an oilier skin type but the morning cleanser is really lovely.  It has a cooling effect to it and leaves your skin feeling and looking bright and clean but not at all tight and dry.  I've only used the Mirenesse Pebblesonic Beauty Device* a couple of times so can't really comment too much on the effectiveness but it is basically a silicone device with a vibration technology that helps to remove dirt, makeup, dead skin cells and also stimulates blood flow through the skin.  The silicone tips are super soft and are thin on one side for your face and thicker on the other side so you can also use it on your body.

I exfoliate 2-3 times a week both with a chemical exfoliant and a manual exfoliant (definitely not at the same time though).  Alpha H Liquid Gold is my holy grail chemical exfoliant that I've been using and loving for years.  Alpha H Liquid Gold is a Glycolic Acid formulation that feels a lot like a liquid toner.  This is applied onto freshly cleansed skin at night-time with nothing over the top.  I use this about twice a week and without fail wake up to glowy, refreshed skin every time.

For manual exfoliation I can't go past a good gritty scrub.  The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (not part of the Luxe range) is a rice based powder that becomes a gritty paste when you add water.  It leaves my skin feeling so clean and fresh but is gentle enough to be used every day.  It does have Salicyclic Acid in it too so because I use the Alpha H Liquid Gold I only use this 2-3 times a week and never on the same day I use the Alpha H.  There is such a thing as exfoliating too much!

Luxe Skincare Masks & Treatments, Payot, Elemis, Pelactiv, Medik8, Mirenesse

Obviously, as someone with dry skin, this is most definitely my favourite part of the routine.  I'm all about hydration but I hate the feeling of stickiness or heaviness that a lot of moisturisers for dry skin feel like so I'm pretty fussy about the moisturisers I use.  I've just started using the Pelactiv Hydra Daily Defense* and it's so lovely and lightweight but still leaves my skin feeling so soft and hydrated.  Simple yet effective, exactly what I'm looking for!  I'm currently using this day and night but I'd love to try out the night cream in the same range just for that extra hydration boost at night.  The Payot Brume Eclat Anti-Pollution Revivifing Mist* is an awesome addition to your winter skincare regime by adding an extra boost in hydration.  This is a great multi task spray that can be used as a toner, a pick me up during the day or a makeup setting spray.  Whichever way you use it this alcohol free spray will refresh and hydrate your skin for that extra glow factor.

Treatments & Masks

While I'm all about using the basics for cleansing and moisturising, treatments are where the real magic happens with achieving perfectly glowing skin. Glycolic Acid, Vitamin C, Salicylic Acid, Antioxidants... there is no end to the amount of long worded confusing named treatments that can be applied to the skin.  Here's what I use:

I use an oil pretty much every day under my moisturiser.  I generally use Rosehip or Jojoba Oil, both are effective at giving my skin a much-needed hydration boost with a hit of antioxidants.  I've only been using the Medik8 Glow Facial Oil* for about a week but I'm already in love.  It's a very lightweight oil so I think those with oily and combination skin will love this too.  It sinks in very quickly to the skin and has a beautiful scent, which will be from the 12 essential oils that are blended into the oil.  The most exciting part of the Medik8 Glow Facial Oil is the Vitamin C as I haven't used a Vitamin C treatment before.  Vitamin C is an antioxidant and is supposed to be amazing for helping to reduce the signs of ageing.  Bring it on!

Masks are an easily forgotten but very important part of your skincare regime.  Once or twice a week applying a mask is a fantastic way to boost up your skin and deal with any specific problems you may be having.  There are so many different masks out there and they all do so many different things.  If you're struggling with pimples and congestion, look for a deep cleansing or purifying mask.  If your skin is dry, look for a hydrating and repairing mask.  If you have combination skin you may need to use a different mask on your t-zone to the rest of your face.   The Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask* is a beautiful clay based clarifying and soothing mask suitable for sensitive skin. The mask is a smooth cream that dries down similar to other clay masks I've used except this one doesn't make your face unmoveable or crack when you smile. I love that it has Lavender in it as this essential oil is well known for its relaxing and sleep assisting properties.  Applying this mask once a week at night before bed is a lovely addition to a relaxing night time routine and essential in achieving that extra glow factor.
