Makeup & Skincare Favourites - February 2018

Makeup Favourites, Covergirl Peacock Flare, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid, Maybelline Fit Me, Kiehls Vitamin C, Urban Decay All Nighter

Being a shorter month it's no wonder that February just flew by.  I joined a gym last month that has a crèche attached and I'm loving getting out of the house most mornings, dropping the toddler in crèche and getting a workout in.  One of the things I decided to do when I moved to Brisbane was to stop letting my anxiety have so much control over my life.  There are many ways I'm working to combat this and trust me when I say it's hard work but I'm so proud of the progress that I'm making.  This month one of the goals I smashed was to attend my very first spin class which ended up being incredible.  I think I'm addicted as I've been going to them every week, sometimes even twice a week haha (who even am I?).  All this gym going means I've haven't been wearing a lot of makeup through the month.  It's also been incredibly hot and humid here in Brisbane so keeping my makeup minimal is a necessity.

Here are some of my favourite products I loved in February...

Makeup Favourites, Covergirl Peacock Flare, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid, Maybelline Fit Me, Kiehls Vitamin C, Urban Decay All Nighter

Kiehls Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate*
I was sent this for an Instagram campaign and it is the very first product from Kiehls I have tried.  It's a really weird formula as it contains a silicone in it which makes it feel super smooth when you apply it on the skin (think Benefit Porefessional).  It has a lovely orange scent and warms up when you apply it to your face which actually feels really nice.  All of that aside I've seen some really definite results after only using this for 3-4 weeks.  There's a massive improvement in the texture of my skin, it's so much smoother, softer, and just generally glowy.  It's definite love with this product!

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
I've tried a few different Hyaluronic Acid products and hated them all until now.  This one has a gel like consistency that does apply slightly sticky.  Once it's absorbed and I pop my moisturiser on top though it feels amazing.  I think it's made a huge improvement in the hydration levels of my skin and will definitely be repurchasing this one.  At $12.90 for 30ml it's a steal too!  FYI I use this as my serum in the day time and the Kiehls one I mentioned above at night-time for no reason in particular.

Enough about skincare, let's get onto the good stuff...

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy & Smooth Foundation
This foundation is one of my all time faves.  Especially when it comes to affordable makeup.  This has been the perfect foundation for me lately as it gives me good coverage without looking cakey and lasts well through the day, even in this humid weather.  I find it just makes my skin look naturally better and hey we could all do with some of that!

Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara*
I just couldn't decide wether to add this in as one of my favourites or not but here we are.  I was sent this from a PR company to try out and when I first used it I didn't like it.  It has one of those rubber brushes that I've never really taken a liking to and when I first used it, it just applied pretty averagely.  I left it a week and then thought I better keep trying it so I can form a solid opinion on it and maybe write a review.  I think it just needed a week after opening to settle a bit (this is some kind of mascara magic that has worked for me before) because my lashes looked amazing the next time I tried it.  While I don't think it can replace my love for the Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara this does do an awesome job at separating and volumising lashes. I did notice a tiny bit of smudging which does happen to me with some mascaras because I have curly lashes but definitely not enough to make me stop using it.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
My sister bought this for me for Christmas and I was so excited to try out this cult product that lots of people rave about.  I had previously had the Chill version of this which is cooling and hydrating but I didn't find it did a lot for my skin.  This All Nighter spray however is so much better.  It feels amazing on my skin and I actually think it not only makes my makeup look better but I'm sure it's lasting longer.  Even through all this humid weather and all my gym going I've still been impressed by my makeup at the end of the day and I can only put it down to this spray.

That wraps up my February favourites.  I'd love to know if there's a particular product you were loving last month, let me know in the comments below or hit me up on Instagram.  I'm looking forward to this month of March, I get to see one of my besties and I'll have family visiting too.  And of course you can't beat the Easter holiday at the end of the month!
